Hello, Norma Jeane: The Marilyn Monroe You Didn't Know

A must have for every Marilyn or old Hollywood fan!
I love Hollywood history and have always been a fan of Marilyn Monroe. Over the years, I have collected many books on MM's life & career, I have been inside her Brentwood home, attended her annual memorial & more. I can tell you, wholeheartedly, this is one of the best books on MM I have ever seen. From the beautiful cover, quality paper & printing to the 427 pages covering everything from names, dates and photos, you will not need another MM book! This is the one!The author, Elisa Jordan, has painstakingly researched, fact checked and provided us with a well written comprehensive peek into the real life of the ultimate star. I can't even imagine how many years it must have taken her to write this book, but I'm glad she did!I highly recommend it!

Perplexe

A true page-turner
This volume of information about Norma Jeane Mortenson (name on birth certificate), Norma Jeane Baker (baptism by Aimee Semple MacPherson on December 1, 1926), Norma Jeane Dougherty (first marriage), Marilyn Monroe (name change at Twentieth Century - Fox), Norma Jeane DiMaggio (second marriage to Joe DiMaggio), Marilyn Monroe Miller (legal name change then her third marriage, to playwright Arthur Miller), and finally Marilyn Monroe again is copious and thoroughly well researched and written by Elise Jordan. Other than not mentioning Chuck Moran, who was Marilyn’s first boyfriend, it was accurately stated as to the men throughout Marilyn’s life. However, her life wasn’t defined by men alone (including her nearly absent father, Stanley Gifford), but by everyone she met in her 36 year lifespan. This was just one of 44 chapters defining this highly recommended book. Every one of them is a page turner.

An absolute MUST read!
I’ve been a HUGE MM fan for many years. Read tons of books (some factual and some trash) but this is the only book that I’ve found to have facts and information that I didn’t know about. The author must have taken years to do research and it shows. This is an absolute MUST for any MM fan. Reads more like an informative guide thru her life rather than a story. Love this book!!!

Updated review.
I previously wrote a review about the printing, there were pages missing, but I talked with the author on FB (she was incredibly kind and helpful) and I was able to get it all straightened out with a new copy. That said, this book was AMAZING. I learned so much I had no idea about before, so many little details I never knew, down to the theaters Marilyn frequented and the places she lived, even for a short time. It’s so incredibly well researched, never dull or boring, and it was hard to have to put it down. There’s so much misinformation out there, but this book sorts through it at length along the way, and then even further in a whole chapter and breaks down the truth of different Marilyn myths. This book is just so complete, all encompassing across all the eras of her life, fair, compassionate and factual. Superb author.
