I’m not sure but I believe my bow string is too small, won’t reach either end and scared if I force it too much then something will break

Don’t be afraid. You have to use a bit of force to bend the bow into place, then the string will hold it where it needs to be. That’s how the bow gains its poundage. You won’t break it unless you do something stupid while bending it.
