Pictorial Guide To Pottery And Porcelain Marks

The photos are the reason for buying the book!
The photos are great. I know a lot of reviews say that the book does not include all the makers marks. That's true, BUT if you consider that some makers have used dozens of marks over the years, the book would have to be 2000 pages long to get them all in. I love that they show you not only the mark, but the item it came from. Most porcelain manufacturer's have very similar products. It really helps to see what their products look like. I flip between Kovel's New Dictionary of Marks and this book and this book. It's a great reference book.

Yes and No . . . but I still recommend it
I gave only 3 stars to the Pictorial Guide To Pottery And Porcelain Marks book because, although I'm sure it's good overall, every time I've had occasion to use it, the marks were not in the book. However, the book is organized well, making it rather easy to navigate to where you wish to go. I'd still recommend it, though.

PERFECT
This book is what I have been looking for for quite some time now. It gives a VERY comprehensive overview on marks from all over the world, and their usage years. If you are, like me, a seller of antiques and vintage items....need a quick reference for your research to pin down the dates? THIS IS IT! This book will NOT give you company history and prices. It will however give you the first step in identifying that piece that you found in grandma's attic years ago. Excellent photos for EVERY piece mentioned. Also, it is in alphabetical order, VERY easy maneuvering.5 STARS all the way!

Just What I Wanted
Great book with tons of photos of the back stamp of just about every pottery maker you could name. All listed in alphabetical order and telling the years that particular stamp was used. I wish all my reference books were this good.

Must decide what antiques to sell...
I have lots and lots of antiques. I have several different kinds of antiques. I'm downsizing and want to find good homes for the antiques that I'll be selling. Knowing about the pottery and porcelain marks is helpful to know how to price them to sell. I'm selling many different kinds of antiques and that requires learning as much as possible about the current value of these items. I'm looking forward to find a home for all of the antiques that I'm willing to part with.
