Heavy duty
I would have given this more stars except I purchased this as a gift and it is completely tarnished! It looks dirty. For the cost, this should have been polished and cleaned before it was shipped. Pretty disappointing and I was a little embarrassed giving this as a gift in its condition

Discovered in the Napa Valley; given as a very well received gift.
I was recently invited on a trip to tour some vineyards in California's Napa Valley. The trip was all expenses paid, and was a tremendously enjoyable experience. On one of the winery tours, the host used this corkscrew to open the bottle. The person who had paid my way on the trip showed a clear interest in the item, but the owner quickly told us that he had ordered it from an Italian company, and they were very hard to find. This was the only information I had to go on, but I knew I had to find the corkscrew. After a couple days of internet research, I finally found the corkscrew. King is described as a faithful reproduction of an 18th century corkscrew featuring a rack and a pinion. It is a high-quality piece of craftwork made of hand-finished, first choice materials that will stand the test of time. The simulated ageing of the metals emphasizes the corkscrew beauty. The large brass handle at the top is turned clockwise to insert the spiral into the cork. Then with a complete clockwise turn of the side handle the cork will come out easily and quickly.Solid piece, well constructed. Worth every penny. The item comes in both brass, and silver.

Best corkscrew ever
Ignore the 1-star "ratings" with no reviews. They are either mistakes or people trying to lower the rating. If you can't bother to explain why you're giving a certain rating to a product, your rating is useless to everyone. We first saw this corkscrew at a wine tasting in Napa Valley last month. The owner let a few people try it out and we were hooked. He said he normally sells them in the winery but they were out of stock, however he had some on order and he could call when he received more. I honestly expected that to be the last we heard, but 3 days later he called saying he had received the shipment, I told him we were still interested, and we received it 5 days later. This is by far the best (and last) corkscrew you will ever have to own. Very sturdy, all brass and steel (no plastic or nylon parts to break), although it is pricey. However, if you think about all of the other corkscrews you won't have to buy when one of them breaks, the price is not out of line. On top of that, it is a beautiful conversation piece!

Hands down the most reliable corkscrew, especially for longer ...
Hands down the most reliable corkscrew, especially for longer and /or older corks that may disintegrate if pulled by lesser tools. Has a long screw that pulls straight out with no twisting. Try it and you'll never go back to anything else!
