PERFECT for my daughter!
This book is even sweeter than I imagined! The big sister is too busy to notice her brother in the beginning, but the cat gets increasingly concerned. Hahaha, then at the climax, the big sister gets mad, the little brother feels bad, but then the sister calms down and really looks at what he made... and sees HIS achievement and celebrates HIM! It is an amazing book teaching us to not be so self-centered and notice other people's accomplishments too! This is a new favorite- at least for me!

Tom loves "Louise loves Art"!
Great book, with many nice details in the illustrations. The use of greyscale with red as the only other color works wonderfully, and helps young eyes follow some of the action. As in the best books of this sort, there are plenty of little things to keep "kids of all ages" interested and amused. That Louise loves her brother even more than her artwork is a touchpoint for children who have to share with siblings.NOTE: the hardcover book is what I purchased first. The Kindle edition says it will download to the Windows 8 Reader, but in fact it will not, so I had to return it (sadly).

I purchased this book for my granddaughter's 4th birthday. She happens to have a little brother (not named Art!) She really loved it! The style of the book is loose and sketchy, the story is simple (and told with some wit and sophistication; I found it engaging too!), and seems to completely relate to little kids. The ending (spoiler-ha!!) when Louise's compassion for her little brother outweighs her anger at him messing up her masterpiece is really wonderful. My granddaughter was really engaged by this little book. I highly recommend it!

Only a 4 star book because it will appeal in a five star way to adults but I think kids would rate it 4 stars. The story is slight but the pictures make up for that in their richness. Saccharine alert...my daughter cried the first time she read it to her kids.

So True!
Can't wait to give it to my granddaughter who is exactly like Louise. Her little brother isn't quite as old as Art but it won't be long before he is into her art supplies and masterpieces. This is a wonderful book with great illustrations too.

I understand how many people love the art itself
I understand how many people love the art itself, and the use of the red to emphasize, but I just didn't like the story. It was far too simplistic for what I was expecting. The pictures are beautiful, and funny, and it's a sweet sentiment since the little brother's name is Art.

Great picture book to inspire school-wide art themes
Delightful and inspiring read. Kelly Light penned & illustrated an insightful fiction story which connects on so many levels to elementary students. Bold images to attract the young readers, subtle humour to entertain, & tons of thematic links to explore. One of the best picture books I have read as a teacher in a long time. Simple, but oh- so sweet!
