Hello glad you bought our product. Our response to your question is as follows: You only need to put the antenna to the direction of the signal emission. 1. the signal transmitter in the upper floor then the antenna is vertical facing 2. the signal transmitter in the same floor then is horizontal facing.

Q: What is the maximum size power supply to achieve maximum distance?

If replacing the antenna on a standard wi-fi router, you cannot use a different power supply. Maximum distance is controlled by pointing the new antenna directly at the user. Any user not in line with the antenna direction may actually experience a reduced distance. Look at figure C, Yagi Ant Az Pattern. Now, image a circle at the 0 radius. That is the pattern of the standard antenna which provides equal signal in all directions for a given distance from the router. You can see that the new antenna focuses the signal in one direction which steals signal from the other directions. To get even more distance, you would need more signal/power and that requires a special amplifier which is much more complicated and expensive.

Not impressed

This yagi does not perform. Even pointed directly at hotspot 50 yards away and I had better results with the stock omni antenna that came with the wireless card.
