i recieved the instant xl slim 6 quart air fryer ive read so many horrible things on how bad the smell was like burnth rubber i was going cancel order but i wanted to see for myself so i recieved air fryer today i took it out of the box i took vinager window spray with lemon juice and dish washing soap and washed the air fryer with the mix i made than pit it in the fryer on about 15 mins than washed air fryer with mix i did agaiin about 4 times after last wash i put 2 potatoes on bake about 20 minutes as you know potatoe asorbs any smell left im happy to let you it worked beautifully oder free no more smell its a beautiful air fryer real compact but with pleanty space to cook sure happy i followed my own judgement im very happy i did and now im the ower of a great air fryer setting work with ease open drawer it stops close draw it continues where you left off and turns off when food is finished automatic hope this will help you all

I'm smitten with this air fryer. I've have both round and square baskets, but this one is the best by far. You get so much more cooking surface. It will hold a totinos party pizza or 2 french bread pizzas. I've cooked 3 lbs of chicken thighs with no overlap!It seems to run hotter than my previous fryers, so I'll have to be careful until I get it dialed in. But it's a great unit. Awesome size, intuitive controls, looks great, cooks even better.

I bought this in March 2024 and have used it almost daily. There was a strong plastic-rubber smell at first, but it was easily removed by putting vinegar in an 8-oz ramekin and "cooking" it in the AF at 250 for 20 minutes. I did this twice on the back porch.I've used every setting so far but the roast setting, and everything has turned out great! One of my favorite ways to use it is to "hard boil" eggs ... NO WATER! I put 6 eggs in the basket and cook at 270 for 16 minutes. When the timer goes off, I put the eggs in ice water for two minutes. They easily peel and I have boiled eggs all week for avocado toast, salads, deviled eggs, or a quick snack.I have a small kitchen, so real estate is valuable. This slim style fits perfectly in my baking station area. The basket is rectangular and deep. It's like putting two 3-qt baskets end to end. It works GREAT for bacon and pork tenderloin without having to cut. So far, so good...... I recommend 👍

I love the instant pot brand. I have the original Instant Pot and also owned the Instant Pot vortex plus and love both. When I moved to a smaller apartment, I jumped at buying the Instant Pot Vortex Slim XL 6QT since I don't have the counter space for my older model.First: I did encounter the burnt plastic smell that several people mentioned. I ran the rest run, per the instructions in the manual. Then also ran it twice more with vinegar water. After about 5 more uses the plastic smell decreased and never impacted the food.Second: It is much quieter than my previous model when running.Third : I noticed pretty immediately the the vortex slim wasn't as effective as my older model. With the original Instant Pot Vortex Model, I had to be very careful with the temperature and timing. I rarely could go over 350 degrees Fahrenheit or food would burn and most of my go-to foods would cook in 10 minutes or less.With this model, I had to set it to 400 degrees and even after 20 minutes sometimes my meat isn't finished. I even tested it with regular frozen French fries and was unable to get them crispy. I tested it with an oven thermometer and it isn't even getting to 350 degrees at its highest setting.I am very disappointed in this model. Not sure if they reduced the temperature to make it compact, but isn't performing to the standards I expect for this brand.

The Instant Vortex had decent reviews and we needed the larger size basket. We have NOT experienced the smell issues identified by others. The programming function is easy to use. However, even tho generally satisfied, we feel the unit would benefit from a separate basket instead of the method, which uses a slotted base that fits in the bottom of the cooking chamber. It works but IMHO restricts air flow. We don’t get the expected crisp in fries we expected. I contacted Instant customer support asking about availability and use of a raised stainless basket and received a simple reply stating such use is not recommended. In all honesty, we don’t understand the logic of the reply. We continue to search for such a basket to try. Other than that, we’re definitely satisfied customers.
