Wowee
I may change the review over time. ‘RIng Battery Video Doorbell Plus’ Purchased March 2026. I bought the battery version as it’s impossible to find reliable electricians around here to connect and test it to the already existing wires. It feels substantial and tough. Nicely manufactured. Well boxed. It took me an age to install the web side account plus apps, sooooo many phone codes to repeatedly enter as I have both an android phone plus an iPad to set up. At least adding other family members just requires me sending email invites. Sis and I adore this thing. The dogs think it’s great fun 🐕🦺🐕 too. It’s been a life changer as both of us have mobility issues. The communication ability with delivery people is fantastic, even if it’s just to tell them to leave stuff on the step. Age dependent deliveries are usually sorted out via the mike to give year of birth without needing to race (ahem, I mean crawl) downstairs. Clarity is amazing compared to our old blink system. Even at night. Notifications that somebody has triggered the camera is met with a cute jingle rather than a fog horn. Alexa and my iPad show videos while my fire tv video pauses automatically. I decided I’d pay for the extra functions after the free period as it’s not expensive. I love the AI, so that I can add recognisable faces. Occasionally it even recognises Amazon deliveries! It can be a bit slow. Often it only shows the rear end as delivery guys, who, after years or experience, know they can leave the stuff on our step, are walking out of the gate for example. Recharging is a nuisance because it needs its special screw driver, especially if you’ve issues with fingers. I only bought it in March and already needed to recharge. I’ve just ordered the solar charger for £40 in the hope that will help. Phew. I’ll shut up now hehe.

Super video door bell
Bought a second one for the back door because the one I bought for the front door has been outstanding. Great resolution, even at night and the battery tends to last at least a month during cold temperatures. Motion detection is spot-on too and never had a problem connecting to it from far away, e.g. shopping in town. I bought an extra mounting plate with 3M sticky double-sided tape, so I don't have to use any screws, for both cameras. Held very well for the front door and that's been on there for months now. Very highly recommended.

Absolutly brilliant, once you have screwed it in place!
To be fair, I am absolutly made up with this and what can do. Clear video of any caller, two way communication and video captures as alerts. But, fixing it with an angled mount was difficult. The screws that come with this are long with small cross heads. I persevered using grease, drilling small guide holes, and after a short while got them in to attatch the angled mount on my wooden door frame. In retrospect I should have gone to my garage and dug out shorter screws with bigger cross heads that would have done. But, the end result is absolutly great, and really it is. As well as convenience you get security as well. The electronic setup is very professional and satisfying. Very pleased indeed.

Excellent upgrade from our first gen
This was a replacement for the first gen ring doorbell that we had used for several years. This is a noticeable upgrade, the picture quality is excellent with a much wider field of view which covers the whole of our driveway. My one gripe with the gen one is that you had to remove the doorbell to charge, that's why I went for this one where you can just slide the battery out. But its still secured with a torq so that adds peace of mind. Easy to set up and use, and I have turned the sensitivity down slightly as it was picking up everyone walking their dogs and I'm not that nosey :) Its been out in all weather and still works after about a year, Our last one did really well until it just refused to charge one day. Hopefully we'll get many happy years out of this one too.

As good as we know they are
We all know Ring by now so no surprises. Good quality materials, excellent quality video and with additional subscription good security replay.

Perfect bell with lots of options
I love this bell. It’s loud and plays a nice tune, there is a choice.of noises. It’s so much fun watching people at the door. It can recognise people who come regularly and uses their name. You can get a basic service for £4.99 a month or a video storage and fancy stuff for £7.99 a month which is the one I’ve taken. The first month is free so you can make a decision about how much you want as gizmos. There is a further package at £15.99 that covers multiple cameras and doors inside and outside. Most people don’t need that level of security. It was easy to set up and linked to my phone and iPad no bother.

Usual Ring high quality. But why no USB-C??
We are fully "in" with the Ring camera ecosystem having both many internal cameras, outdoor cameras and flood lights. I always found the doorbells confusing in terms of their names, (eg- Plus, Elite, Pro etc) so was never really sure which had the best value for money as some "high end" features can be gimmicky or never used. I have knocked off a star for 2 main reasons. Slightly light instructions for mounting to a wall. I followed the in app instructions. Was a bit odd to read the ideal height is about 1m above the floor which seems a bit low to me. Most doorbells are shoulder or even head height, not waist height. You are provided with Packs A,B,C and D with 2 different sets of rawl plugs and screws but the instructions were not really clear about which to use. I mounted mine to the brick wall next to my front door, but the bricks on my house were so very tough to drill I ended up using a DIY adhesive mounting using velcro to complete the job. The other REALLY annoying thing is that the quick release battery is STILL charged using a godawful micro-USB cable. I thought everything had to be USB-C nowadays and thank god for that. Am not sure how Amazon have got away with still selling equipment with this old socket type. Annoying as ideally you just want the same type of cables around the house now for new products (ie- USB-C). However video quality is excellent and it works together with the Ring Chime Pro which was purchased at the same time, reliably.
