A wonderful book that has never been seen before. It's irresistible for those who like revolvers.

Not the greatest
It seems unkind to say negative things about a book by the venerable John Taffin, who must be well into his 80's by now. But. . . this book fell short of my expectations. My main objection is that it is so obviously padded. There is a lot of repetition (the result of slipshod editing) and many, many unnecessary illustrations, not just of revolvers, but of the author shooting revolvers (see for example page 126, an entire page dedicated to Taffin shooting an S&W .357 one-handed, two-handed, from different angles) or of targets shot with various models (for example page 150, a whole page with targets shot with different Smith J-frames). Some of this is OK, but there's waaaay too much of it. A few of the illustrations are genuinely interesting (see page 285 for some pics of crusty old Elmer Keith with pipe and sixguns) and now and then there's an insight from Taffin that comes only with long experience. But the book could have been half as long and gotten the job done better.
