Excellent product, but caveats for newbies/DIY...
This is a very good, professional grade product. I am learning to do my own nails and have been studying hard since we were locked down in mid-March, 2020 (Iโm writing this at the end of June). I see in the questions section that a lot of people are asking questions like, โDoes this gel need a primer/base coat,โ โDoes this need a top coat,โ โDo I need a UV/LED lamp?โ The answer to all these questions is YES. I suggest to ALL DIYโers to please go to YouTube and watch videos made by professional, licensed nail techs, preferably nail educators - thatโs different from just a nail tech. An educator works for product companies, teaching techs how to use the products so they will be successful. Learn how to do a hard gel application from start to finish - nail prep, using cleaners, bonders, bases, gel, sculpting (if youโre doing extensions), and top coat. Where this product fits in is between the base coat and top coat. Skipping any part of the process can compromise the effectiveness and longevity of this product. You can find videos specific to this product if you search for โIBD hard gel.โ Now for my warning - If youโre curing this product in an inexpensive LED lamp, be careful of a very strong, quick exothermic reaction. Exothermic means โheat producing,โ and with a strong lamp, this stuff can get very hot on your nails very quickly! In my lamp, I have to withdraw my hand within 4-5 seconds to let the heat settle down. Did you know that just about every company that makes gel products sells lamps to go with them? There is a reason for this, and itโs not just to get you to buy their lamps! Different lamps have different qualities, and it was only after I had some very unpleasant heat reactions that I went to the IBD website to read about their own lamp. They only sell one, and it is expensive, but itโs expensive for a reason - their lamp doesnโt hit you with full force at once. Hereโs what they say: โibd__ next generation 36-watt LED/UV Lamp gradually increases the intensity of light to prevent heat spikes. GraduaLight simultaneously delivers a comfortable curing experience and superior curing performance.โ I wish I had read about this before I stuck my hand under my regular LED lamp! OUCH! Apparently, the company is well aware that it tends to cure very fast. Just be careful if youโre using this with a cheap lamp that hits you with full intensity right away. There are other high-end lamps with this gradual intensity feature, but if you bought your cheap lamp before you knew about this feature like I did, it probably doesnโt have it. So yes, get this product if you want solid, long-lasting overlays or extensions. Just donโt be stupid - if youโre DIY and just learning, do your homework to learn how to get the most from it, or any other nail products, for that matter. And be ready for that heat reaction in your lamp!

Good application is key
Love! Got clear so I could see whatโs going on underneath, which makes it easy to see lifting and keep track of an injury on my thumb. I can do gardening without gloves and not even chip them, though I would personally not recommend doing that. Stays on for weeks with minimal to no chipping.

Best hard gel ever
Used up my old container and had to buy a new one. I bought my first one in person but this one I got online because I didn't feel like driving for 4 hours to get another container. I haven't used any other hard gel before but I love this hard gel so much I don't even need to try another kind. It's very popular too, lots of people use it, and as someone who has bought this exact product elsewhere before, I can tell you straight up that this product is NOT tampered with so order it if you like to do nails! If you don't do nails typically, this will be difficult for you to use and figure out but if you're really committed to getting it right I recommend this because it's much easier than acrylic and produces the same results (if not better). It's fun too, it's just an amazing product and I love it and will continue to order it as long as I do nails.

Love this product
I have both Indian products the builder gel and this one the clear. There is a difference between the two. The clear is easier to us then the builder gel as a DIY this is extremely important to me. This product is not as thick as the builder gel but this also it to even off better and reduce the amount of filing that is needed. One thing I want to point out is that a little goes a long way. If you are looking for a product to have thick nails this is not it. You want the builder gel. But if you want a product just to wear as a overlay for your natural nails, buy this one. I also used a No. 6 brush and it worked well.

There's a reason everyone uses IBD
So many nail techs use IBD. This version is a solid, reliable product for doing hard gel overlays on natural nails. Others are better for doing extensions, but I believe this will work for those, too. I'm not a nail tech, I'm just a home user doing gel overlays. I've been doing overlays for about eight months, but I was having problems with my UR Sugar soak-off extension gel and how it doesn't self-level well. I wanted something that was a little less thick to make my job easier in terms of reducing filing and giving me a smooth overlay. This works well. While this isn't so thin that it runs into the cuticles, it does self-level well and gives a nice, even overlay. I love that it has a 30-second cure as it helps the process go faster. I get minimal heat spikes from this, but I sometimes do get one or two. It also doesn't have a strong smell, which I appreciate. I file this off with an e-file, but I do use a soak-off base coat underneath. I also use a primer on any parts of bare nail that I'm filling. I find it fairly easy to file and file off, either with a hand file or an e-file. I haven't had any particular issues with it.

Mix it!
I got the gel X kit for Christmas of 2020 and I found out I was allergic to it maybe .. mid 2021. Itโs now middle of 2022. I had a kid in the mix, so pardon the delay.. But I have been trying to find some type of anything so that I can continue doing my nails at home because yo girl is a baller on a budget & as a new mom I really just couldnโt justify spending $50+ on my nails every two weeks. I used a bunch of press on kits, polygel, sticker tape.. I even thought maybe itโs the gel polish so I started using different items to narrow down my allergy. And I literally hit my nail lady up like all right your girls about to have to come back to you because I just canโt live my life without having my nails done, lmao. (First world problems) anyway my nail lady being the kind hearted sweet soul that she is, suggested that I give one last thing a try: hard gel overlay. Lo & behold, I gave yโall a purchase.. and I finally did my nails and didnโt have to pop them off the next day bc of my allergy ORRRR bc they were jus not sticking! Anyway. Iโm jus grateful for yโall. Lol thanks

I love this stuff
It goes on just like nail polish, making it very easy for those who want to their nails at home. There are 2 different kinds...the UV and the UV/LED. Make sure you get the correct one for your lamp, as this requires a lamp. I glue on tips, then add the clear gel over the top, file to make sure it is all smooth, then add gel polish to finish. I get a lot of compliments on my nails. Make sure you follow the directions and manicure correctly to keep your nails from popping off or breaking off. This is an incredible price compared to buying it in the stores. A .5 ounce is over $15 at Sally's. This is 2 ounces and is less than $5 more than the .5 ounce. My first 2 ounce bottle lasted me over a year!

Guitarist using IBD Hard Gel
I am a fingerstyle guitarist that plays with nails. Unfortunantly the tips damage to easily so I use IBD hard gel then UV to extend and strengthen the nail tip with help from some Nail Artform Stickers. Then with a bit of filing to form they work great for a time and I repeat the process. Been doing it for some years with no detriment to my actual nails.

Great gel!
I have tried many different hard gels and always go back to IBD. Great value for the cost. I should've bought the .5 oz lol. I only do my own nails so this will last a long time. It goes on really nice. Very easy to use. It self levels so even for a beginner it would be great.

Great buy
This is the first and only hard gel i have ever used & I just had to get it in other shades. It burns when curing if applied too thick without a rubber base but that's normal. It is not runny & it self levels. I find that it works well on any nail length but best on longer nails. The best thing about this is when applied right it is just as hard and durable as traditional acrylic
