Buy A Possum's Tail 1 by Gabby Dawnay, Alex Barrow (ISBN: 9781849762212) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Gabby Dawney & Alex Barrow's beautiful book A Possum's Tail is dreamy - Gabby Dawney & Alex Barrow's beautiful book A Possum's Tail is dreamy. The story of a little boy who takes his dog on wheels for a dander across London Town past many sights including one of my favourite old haunts (The Princess Louise) and finally to London Zoo to visit the Possum's house (who in turn decide to visit him at his home) is delightful. Gabby & Alex have worked together for a while (I think) on amazing Children's magazine OKIDO and this book collaboration is hopefully the start of more good things to come. I bought this for a grown up friend for her Birthday, as we both LOVE children's books but my 4 year old daughter wouldn't let me send it and I had to buy another, which secretly I was very glad to do. Review: Appealing to everyone - This had all the adults oohing and jostling to have a look when my 3 year old nephew opened this on Christmas Day. It has tons of appeal for parents who love the beautiful illustrations and imaginative story but the children in the room were all captivated too, particularly enjoying the rhyming text. It was impossible to guess how the story would end and they were tickled by the ending, even the older cousins. It is worth pointing out that he story is universally appealing, whether the reader is a Londoner, lives in the UK or abroad, as borne out by the diverse group of children in the room with us that day.

A really adorable story
What a wonderfully charming book. This beautifully illustrated story takes you along for a joyful trip through the hustle and bustle of modern day London, an everyday trip to the zoo turns into a magical adventure when a little boy unwittingly manages to liberate a family of young possums from the zoo and finds them trailing him back home for tea in the garden. I love this book and have bought it for all my animal loving little cousins and nieces.

A classic!
Even my only-just-2 year old adores this book. We have to read it over and over, naming the beautifully illustrated animals, counting the possums, and picking out the gorgeous little details throughout. The book is a wonderful gift (I have a little pile of them at the ready!). A really lovely old fashioned book which is bound to become a classic. Bravo to the author and illustrator!!

What a classic!
My children absolutely love this book! It's a magical, imaginative tale written beautifully in rhyme with wonderful illustrations. Each time we read it they pick up on something different from the story and find something new to look at in the pictures. It's also lovely to look at all the London sights as the little boy and his dog travel through the city. Great find, strongly recommend it!

Perfect children's book
I bought 4 copies of this book for my present drawer as I liked the look of it so much. I wasn't disappointed, I haven't got any left and my children insisted we keep on as they all (8,5 and 3) enjoyed it so much. A great first book, let's hope there's plenty more.

Beautiful story
I bought and read this book to my young children and we loved the illustrations and the beautiful verse. The possums are adorable, as is Samuel Drew ,and the illustrations of London capture the spirit of the city in an entertaining way. I love Gabby Dawnay's clever rhymes and engaging story. Highly recommended.

A fun read!
A Possum's Tail is a fun story about a little boy Sam who takes his toy dog on a trip to London Zoo to see the possums but disappointingly finds they're asleep so heads back home but ends up taking a bit more home than he expected. This is a really lovely story which the children enjoyed being read. It is great how we got to see every part of the journey Sam took on the way to the zoo as the children loved looking at all the pictures of the people in London and they especially loved looking and naming all the animals they found in the zoo. The details in the illustrations are fantastic with so much packed into each page and with the only constant being Sam and dog walking across the page. I like that the book showed Sam walking home again the same way he came as it allowed the children to spot what had changed since and see if Sams mood had changed since. The children found it amusing to find the Possums following and particularly loved seeing them in the sky! I don't think they knew much about Possums before this book (neither did I!) so it was great to introduce them to a new animal and nice for a story based on a less known animal rather than one of the obvious ones which would've been an easy choice. The character of Sam is one we didn't really get to know personally but we could see by his actions how he was feeling which was great. The possums in the book were fun too as they gave the book a more mischievous and adventurous side. The children enjoyed this book and it is definitely worth a read, a simple story that amused the children and kept there attention through the fantastic illustrations!
