Just as the '80s had their signature murderous maniacs -- HALLOWEEN's Michael Myers of Haddonfield and FRIDAY THE 13th's Jason Voorhees of Camp Crystal Lake -- the original HATCHET marked the arrival of the latest and most lethal of the genre's stalking murderers: Victor Crowley, a crazed backwoods killer stalking the bayous of New Orleans. HATCHET II picks up right where the 2007 original film ends, as Marybeth (Danielle Harris from HALLOWEEN) escapes from the clutches of the deformed, swamp-dwelling killer Victor Crowley (Kane Hodder from FRIDAY THE 13th). Marybeth returns to the Louisiana swamps along with an army of hunters to recover the bodies of her family and exact her revenge against Victor Crowley.

out of the trio of hatchet films ive bought and seen one and now this, the story goes a man and woman live out in the hills with a crer as the mans wife has stomach cancer, the coloured carer starts to have sex with the man and he gets her pregnant then while holding each other the dying woman stands and puts a curse on the baby, when it is born its mother dies when she looks at it but the father cares for it until one Halloween when a fire at the door makes the father use an axe to get in ,unknowingly killing his son.not long after the man dies but the boy returns strong, deformed and out to kill from start to finish,a good film I recommend

I believe a third helping of "Hatchet" is now available, well if you are using this film has a guide to future purchase of said "Hatchet 3", I would say, "go ahead, the number two version is worth a look!" You get the usual screaming "dead men walking" running through swampy forests chased by some deformed, indestructible chap, but though we have seen it all before, you cannot help yourself cracking open a Lager and eating some chip butties, and looking for which victim gets the best mutilating, and who is the (usually female) survivor, which set's up nicely the next instalment.

Superior outing to the first movie more kills too.
Arguably better than the first movie, Adam Green is back again directing and like for example Rob Zombie is making constant nods to classic horror movies and cult actors. Danielle Harris always such an underrated actress and best known in the horror cycles for HALLOWEEN 4 and 5 stars here as she gets the help of Reverand Zombie and a few of his men to go into the backwoods and hunt down the disfigured killer Victor Crowley. Reverand is fo course played by horror legend Tony Todd. Kane Hodder plays Crowley and the flashback scenes are nice- always nice to see Kane's face in an actual movie. Horror director Tom Holland is here as is John Carl Buechler and there are more than one references to FRIDAY THE 13th. The gore is bloody and violent but Green's trick is to make the kills so over the top that it is cartoonish and there really shouldn't be anything to offend horror stalwarts- instead you just go wow at the effects or at least of the idea behind the effect in this CGI day. It's a fun slasher movie and is paced very well. The only real complaint is that at times it is dark, a little more light was needed in some key scenes- apart from that Hatchet 2 does its job and never bores.

Better than the first
The first Hatchet was a slasher parody of sorts while maintaining everything you would want from a slasher. Many slasher movies have had sequels with ridiculous plots and explanations and Hatchet II parodies this with the very strange story of the Victor Crowley curse I won't give it away but it was very ludicrous, no way believable, could not be taken seriously and definitely up there with Halloween 6 with ridiculous plots. The body count is much larger in this one though it does take a little longer to cut to the chase, the gore is way over the top and brilliant. Kane Hodder does a great job again if you were to put a hockey mask on him this would have been a great Friday the 13th sequel.

Hatchet 2 is worth buying and having in your collection, Perry plays a good role and the horror never lets up, Bite your finger tips as your nerves go to pieces and the suspense keeps you guessing. Played by excellant actors who portrayed their roles so convincing that it seemed so real, Loved the concept of the story and enjoyed the movie greatly. Robyn
