Brain equipped? Brain dead?
My wife and I live separate lives. I sleep in a bed. She (like her mother) prefers folding her wings and roosting upside down from the hallway rafters. We have a son, but that happy occurrence was only made possible by me swiftly taking advantage of her suddenly swooning when unexpectedly exposed to daylight... and quite frankly, that's ok by me. Less risk of being bitten on the neck by those fangs....Anyway, back to this review of a phone holder.Frankly, in most instances, I can't stand them. This is because users fall into two camps. Brain equipped and brain dead. Now, for us who have cerebal matter, device holders serve the simple purpose of holding an MP3/phone securely whilst travelling. We position it to the side of the windscreen, leaving the view ahead free and clear. This enables us to drive with due consideration...unless of course we're in a Volvo or Audi. (Am I alone in seeing BMW drivers suddenly rejoining the human race?)However, we're becoming a minority.I now often see a car with one, two or even three devices on the windscreen. I immediately think, 'sad b......'Then, I appreciate that the proud owner of the car probably thinks that by having a device suspended so as to quadruple the chance of not seeing a cyclist / pedestrian / motorcyclist / me, is supposed to make onlookers think he/she/it is cool, or whatever the word is nowadays.Frankly, I'd like to see Road Traffic Officers pull every twit with a stupidly positioned windscreen mounted device to the wayside, and 3+ points awarded.Anyway. Back to this review.1. Dirt cheap2. Quick delivery.3. Gobsmacked by the quality, packaging and spare mount cup.4. Suction to die for.5. Don't pay more. Finally, after all of the above I have to come clean and say I didn't buy this for use in a car. The flexible mounting system was ideal for a notepad I stole from a hotel years ago, so I bought this gizmo to be able to leave notes in full view on the hall mirror for The Devil's Disciple (TDD), and it's worked a treat. Now, whenever she's scrabbling around for her pointed hat and broomstick, she doesn't miss the note suspended in full view. (She still looks in the mirror, even though there's no reflection....) An investment of under £2 has brought efficiency to our married life and for that I'm grateful, as is my Secretary. Now, if those of us with brains can just find a way of making idiot drivers suffer like I have done since meeting TDD, we'll really be getting somewhere!

Not Good Enough!
PLEASE NOTE: This review relates SPECIFICALLY to the product supplied by CA @ccessories UK and not to any other supplier using EXACTLY the same product description. I believe that the included reviews for this product should be read with caution as all reviews for this product refer to all suppliers and therefore not necessarily representative of this supplier. (PLEASE SEE the COMMENTS at the bottom of this review)After using this product daily for over 2 months I can now comment on its performance. This product has a number of design faults that let it down in providing a good experience:-1: Depending on the angle of your windscreen, the nearer the vertical the better, there is a lack of clearance above the the clamping arms when installed. This means that if you have a phone etc where there are push controls are near the top at the sides the clamps may end up pushing on them. The clamping mechanism is good and strong.2: The articulated arm joint is not rigid enough to provide a near vibration free mount. In fact during the course of driving the holder with the phone in tends to change angle downwards thereby not providing the perfect viewing angle. On the whole it is very wobbly and this means that a clear display that can be read at a glance is not there.3: On the suction mount there is a twist actuator to activate the suction. It has a click lock that is not manly enough during the course of driving and with the wobbling this comes undone. Though the mount does not leave the screen the amount of occilation is now very high and the screen becomes unreadable without holding it steady with one hand - definitely not recomended when driving!Overall I could not recomend this product to anyone. If anyone has experienced the similar mounting system used by Tom Tom then you will be very disappointed with this product. Tom Tom 10/10 This one 3/10.

well made and quite sturdy gadget. It is a bit fiddly actually getting ...
First of all, this gadget WILL stick to your windscreen, despite what some reviewers here have said. You need to put some saliva on the suction pad, put the device on your windscreen, slide it about a little until you meet some resistance and then close, open, and close the vacuum locking ring a couple of times or so until it stays firmly put. No problem, just requires a little patience. When some toerag smashed the side window of my car & nicked my TomTom satnav, I thought I'd use the HereDrive+ app on my Windows Phone as a replacement for it. So I bought this little gadget to fix my phone to the windscreen when needed. Despite the cheap price it's a cleverly designed, well made and quite sturdy gadget. It is a bit fiddly actually getting it to hold your phone once it's on the windscreen. The gripping pads are of necessity quite stiff to open and, on my Nokia Lumia 520 at least, you have to be careful that the pads are not pressing on the buttons on the right side of the phone. It's a very good idea to set your destination etc. before you try attaching the phone to the gadget as it's quite awkward to do once it's in place.Overall, a great little gadget for the money.
