Attracts the Wrong Insects
The first item received was faulty, and neither the support email nor telephone number given work. Having tracked down a working number, I received courteous and rapid resolution. A working model arrived next day.Unfortunately, its performance is disappointing. It's widely known that U/V light holds minimal attraction for mosquitos, so why this item has one is a mystery. The attractant supplied is ineffective, trapping three or four mossies a night, while we were being eaten alive by the little buggers. Moths, unfortunately, flock to the light and each morning I'd find a dozen or so unfortunates that had been trapped. It's now permanently retired. This product needs a rethink as it's far more effective at exterminating harmless, beneficial insects than it is at trapping mosquitos.

Utter, utter rubbish. Even with the enclosed bate, mosquitoes simply ignore it. Deployed in an area with a lot of mosquitoes, and I mean 50+ in a single room, but it did not catch one. As an alternative, try burning the money you would have spent on this, maybe the money fumes will scare them away, this wont!

Seems to be doing the job
I hate mosquitos but for some reason they seem to love me - I could hire myself out as a decoy at outdoor gathering. Everyone else would be safe whilst the little blighters are occupied feasting on me. And with this lovely weather, I don't seem to be able to go anywhere in the garden at the moment without them finding me. And when they do find and bite me the resulting reaction is far from pleasant. I tend to look like the elephant man for the best part of a week after being bitten. For that reason I seem to spend most summer's evenings smelling like a chemical plant. When I found this device on the internet I was a little bit sceptical to say the least, but now having tried it out I have to say that it so far seems to be doing a good job. Unlike the chemical based electric mosquito killers (the ones that you take on holiday) which are designed to kill any mozzies that are in, for instance, a bedroom, the approach of this machine is different. You located it away from where you are going to be and allow it, over a period of time, to attract and kill any mosquitos in the area. The idea being that you will eventually break the breeding cycle and be mosquito free for a period. This approach means that you are attracting the mosquitos to the trap, which logically means that you don't really want the trap where you are going to be in case you still end up on the menu before the trap does it's work. There are no chemicals or electric 'zapping' to kill the insects, rather they are trapped within the device and dehydrate and die over a few hours. In my curiosity to see how well the thing had worked I opened the catch tray the morning after the first night's operation and out flew two or three of the little b@$t*%ds. Still, there were a quite a few already dead in there (plus a few small moths as well). Yippee!!It remains to be seen just how long it will take to really control the population, but so far the results are very promising. Oh, and by the way, as others have said, it's a robust piece of kit. Check out the dimensions in the description though as it's quite a bit bigger than I expected.

Doesn't work for midges. Attracted a slug caught several small moths. Maybe a couple of midges....... But the area is heavily invested with midges. If it worked it should have caught thousands. I think the slots in the trapard to big for midges, if they are going in, then they are just flying back out. The can is also a bit temperamental and has slowed to a stop but if it is coaxed into running will generally keep going.

Great product for getting rid of flies
Each year around May (June this year) we get loads of small flies in the house ! No idea what they are small slow with a tortoise shell appearance. They are a nuisance as we get so many of them. this year decided that enough is enough and would find something to trap them. Although the CEP20 seemed expensive I wanted something that would at least stand a chance of working 24/7 and be effective ! It is well made and substantial in design not unlike a lantern or speaker in appearance. It was straightforward to set up and seems to be very effective. the amount of flies in the house is now negligible evidenced by the ones trapped. I have moved the location of the trap a few times around the house which also seems to help, its easy to empty and clean the unit. I now also intend to buy a couple of the Connected Essentials lower cost bag type flytraps for outside use. Recommended
