I previously spent a lot of money on a Pro Manduka mat. I was sorely disappointed with it because it's so slippy. I bit the bullet and bought this one. Fantastic. Very grippy and a comfortable depth. (It's not as thick as the Manduka but I have never found this a problem.) As a yoga teacher I use it daily for vinyasa/astanga and it's fab.

A good size mat, seeming substantial, with a potential long life. Upon opening, there was a pungent smell, that took several days to dissipate.

Admittedly very grippy - until you do a hot yoga class on it. Sweat does not get absorbed, it pools on the mat instead making it very slippery. Great for a regular class and practice - make sure you wash it the first time, and regularly wipe it down if you do sweat on it a lot.

I love it. It really improved my practice. I feel more confident when I am on my mat now. No more slipping
