Good product
I remember my mother using this to dye things. I figured I would try it on a pair of jeans that faded. It worked beautifully. Jeans looked new after using RIT dye.

Darker than you might think for grey dye.
The instructions are clear on the process, I would say overall it's not difficult but more time consuming then I expected. I was mainly worried that my strap wouldn't be dark enough, but I was wrong. This color is almost what I would consider to be black. To be fair, this is a cotton strap from a 1966 beetle, so the age of the fabric may have played a part in how it turned out. Overall, I am happy with the result.

Do NOT try this for outdoor cushions!
I really wanted this to work on my faded nylon outdoor cushions! I made sure to get the right dye for nylon fabric and followed the instructions to a T. I prepared the dye bath in VERY hot water (nearly boiling) with the requisite amount of vinegar. Put my pre-washed cushion covers into the double- dye bath (an entire bottle in 3 gallons of very hot water). 30 minutes later, no change in the fabric color. Checked again after 2 hrs and still nothing. Fell asleep and forgot to remove them from the dye bath. Didn't empty it until amost 12 hours later, and not a single thread had changed color. But i can say the dye does work because every little droplet that spilled on my Beige bathroom counter, Beige carpet and Beige skin, is now a permanent shade of deep, dark purple. It won't come of the counter even after dabbing with bleach. The carpet is ruined and it took 3 days and multiple skin scrubbings to get it off of my upper arms and toes! There won't be a next time for me, but if you do attempt to use this, do yourself a huge favor, cover all your surfaces, wear long sleeves and cover your toes! :(

Better then buying new clothes
It's hard to find nice cotton clothing these days, so refreshing my favorite solid color pieces is the way to go. This was the first time using the color fixative and really glad that I spent the extra $ to get it. My cotton pants look great and you'd never known they were just dyed. Worth the time. BTW, along with plastic gloves, use a paint stirrer if you are using the stove top method. Your water can be super hot and you don't get burnt.
