I thought my original Virulite stopped working after many years of rare occasional use for cold sores on my outer skin just below my lower lip, so I bought a new. Guess what? It's fine, because now I have a backup.Use this when you first feel that tingling sensation to prevent the skin from erupting, leading to an open sore; otherwise if you wait until later that night or the next day, it is too late to prevent the sore from spreading and leaving a big scab that last a couple of weeks. It really works. It also works on shingles.

I usually only get a cold sore on my lip once or twice a year. But, I recently (Dec 2025) had 2 outbreaks with multiple cold sores both times. Thetopical lotions (like Abreva) only slightly help the situation. You still end of with a scab which can crack and bleed. So, I searched for a better solution and purchased the Virulite. As would have it, I did not have a cold sore until now, months after purchasing it. I immediately starting using the Virulite and it quickly stopped the cold sore from getting bigger. The normal tingling and pain is gone. It has been only 2 days of using the Virulite so will have to wait to see how it eventually heals. But, I feel it definitely works

I still have the original that still works but had to get this upgraded Virulite with travel case. It really works so I’m so surprised everyone who experiences cold sores doesn’t have it.

Terrible product, had it for 5 months. Used it on 2 occasions, it worked then. But now the light doesn’t stay on, barely lights up, and no it’s not batteries. Of course with the nature of this product you can’t find out is garbage until it is too late to You return it or exchange it. In fact you can’t even contact the seller. I would have given 0 stars if it were possible.

I have been using Virulite for almost 10 years. I bought the original which I still have I just replace the battery. I don’t get all the hate it actually legitimately works but you have to use it as soon as you get the first sign of a cold sore happening (redness and tingling). And you have to use it at least 3 sessions that first day and the next day. When I use it, I have never actually gotten a full blown sore in about 9+ years. People complaining and giving it a bad rating don’t actually follow these steps per product documentation.Also a nice bonus is the more you use it, the less you get outbreaks. I will usually go 2-3 years without an outbreak now.

This device was extremely easy to use. It is lightweight, small, and all you do is press a button and hold to the treatment area until it beeps that it is done. I was a bit confused on how often to use this: in the user manual online, it says to use it every 12 hours (2 x a day) for two days, but in the product description online and on the box it says to use it three times a day for two days. I reached out to customer support and they said to use three times a day.I ordered this because I was just beginning an outbreak on the very inside of my nose which is where I unfortunately get cold sores most of the time. About once a year I will also get them on my mouth. I was able to use the device right after the blisters started to form. In the past, the area gets very inflamed, swollen, and develops the thick yellow unsightly crusts. After using this device, it significantly reduced the severity and the healing time. It didn't get nearly as swollen and inflamed, the crusting was minor, and it wasn't very noticeable. I was very pleased with my results. I was happy I didn't have to deal with any creams or have to touch the sores at all. I've never had great results with using any topical treatments.I am looking forward to using this device right when I get that tingling sensation because I'm curious if it will just prevent the blisters from erupting. I will update this review when I get that chance. Although this device is pricey, I think it is well worth having on hand since it has unlimited treatments and a lifetime warranty.

I get breakouts on the septum of my nose just barely on the inside. When it happens the whole tip of my nose swells like it's going to burst, turns red and I look like Rudolph. Then I get the crusty blisters. It's disgusting, embarrassing and impossible to hide. Since I got the light, If I use it a couple of times right when my nose starts to itch (and I can tell it's going to break out), It will either prevent it totally or symptoms will be 70-90% reduced. And even if I don't get to it early enough for max benefit, I can still reduce a lot of the blister stage.

Not eligible for return. The lights are unable to be seen. I didn't see any noticable difference.

First of all it is VERY cheaply made. A product with the same quality as something you would find in pound land. Certainly not something you would think cost £100. I pressed the button down to turn it on (not hard at all) and the button broke instantly and stayed stuck down. When it turns itself off automatically after 3 minutes, it switches right back on again because the button is broken. So the only way to turn it off is to remove the battery. Its very flimsy thin plastic with a couple of what looks like the kind of lights you get in a kids toy. Its "invisible" light so you cant even tell if anything is even happening. Overall you just feel like an absolute idiot standing there holding this thing on your lip that cost you £100 and you don't even know if its doing anything.I am only on day one of using this so I will keep using it as directed (regardless of how stupid I feel) to see if it does ANYTHING. Which I will update my review if anything significant happens.Regardless if it "helps" its still very poorly made and certainly not worth £100.
