Tightrope [Blu-ray] [1984] [Region Free]

Watching feature films more than once can be a bit puzzling when you liked/hated it first time round, becomes Hated/Liked second time. Hated is much too strong a word but you know what I mean! Back in 2011 I wrote a glowing 5 star review of the DVD, so thought a BLURay would be fun. This time though, I found the script to be gratuitously sleazy and nasty in places. Plot implausibilties aplenty (EG Very Minor Spoiler - The film opens with a birthday party. One of the women leaves, late at night, carrying presents. She proceeds to WALK for what seems like miles through dimly lit empty back streets, all the while followed by our murderer who we only see his shoes. Miraculously after 3-4 mins he suddenly is right in front of her...An old jump start trick. Eastwood is Clint, no more or less than we expect. Bujold is lovely. Most of the other female character are prostitutes who all meet a grisly end (the only reason Randi Brooks gets a credit is so that she can appear nude for a minute (mind you, that is ALMOST the price of entry.) All bad? Far from it. Plenty of action, and Clint's relationship with his 2 screen daughters is very good. Last night, during lockdown, neither my wife found it as enjoyable ad the first viewing, but all this is purely a personal opinion of course. The BLURay is good though, frankly how much better than the DVD was beyond my powers of perception. Good subs. No extras. (NB I still award 4 stars so it's certainly worth a look, and it's cheap.)

'Wes Block' (Clint Eastwood) a Cop, who with 'Joe Molinari' (Dan Hedaya) patrol the FrenchQuarter in 'New Orleans' where a series of brutal sex-murders are occurring.The sleazy side of town has it's temptations for 'Wes'As the investigation progresses 'Wes' realizes there is a link between himself and the deadHookers.Very soon it seems no Woman 'Wes' has been with, is safe which includes those closest tohim, could 'Wes' become a suspect himself ?When the killer becomes more confident, it seems that he's playing a deadly game with 'Wes'He begins to fear for his young daughters, and his lady friend 'Beryl' (Genevi'eve Bujoid) andasks for extra patrol cover at his home whilst he works at night.The situation is becoming personal.This movie is a bit of a slow burner, but does pick up as it moves along, maybe not 'Cint's' best'Cop' movie, unusually there are few one-liners which we tend to expect from him throughouthis film career.However the film is certainly worth a viewing, especially for 'Clint Eastwood' fans.Picture Quality is not the best at times however certainly a step-up from the DVD version.

Relatively dark sex killer/thriller starring Clint Eastwood. I'm a huge fan of the actor, but this is not one of my favourites. Clint plays a New Orleans detective who is on the trail of a serial killer who's victims have two things in common - they work in the sex trade and they are somehow connected to Eastwood. It's not a patch on the Dirty Harry movies, particularly Sudden Impact, which was his previous film.

You read the back of the box and think this is another Dirty Harry film but you will be wrong. This is a very dark film about a cop, Wes Block, trying to find a murderer in the seedier side of New Orleans. Wes also has his work cut out by looking after his two daughters. I am a big fan of Clint Eastwood and I was very glad to find this on Blue ray. It is a really good film to watch late at night.

great film

Great film. You don't usually see Clint in such a sleazy film as this so its nice change. As usual he owns the show, great cast, great all round film. Highly recommend for all you Eastwood fans. Quality of the Bluray is excellent!!!

This DVD is for a gift to my Son, I hope he likes it.

Picture could be better, but much better than dvd. So still worth adding to you collection.
