Can you use this on a mirror touch button to get the light round button dimmed?

I bought this to dim decking lights and whilst it dimmed them slightly even doubling it, in daylight it looked like a white sticker had been placed over the lights. So yes they work but you can see it. I took it off it looked awful. With a small light it might be ok I suppose.
