Killer Expanded & Remastered

The Middle Of A Great Run
Love it To Death began one of the best album runs ever, followed by Killer, School's Out, and Billion Dollar Babies. Bands from that era mastered the 4 minute rock song - they had to as vinyl albums were a stretch at anything over 40 minutes. This record is a master class of that lost art form. Be My Lover, Under My Wheels, You Drive Me Nervous, may be short but pack a crazy punch. The album's final 2 songs, meant for focal points for the live shows , drag a bit are nonetheless a fun listen. The live disc is just great. I'm amazed how quality live material is stored away for so long. It's surprising to hear what a different band they were in the beginning, with long musical interludes that isn't too far removed from progressive rock bands at the time. Long Way To Go ends with hint of School's Out, which is a hoot. This is the original Alice Cooper Band with the great Glen Buxton. Worth your time.

Finally! Remasters of KILLER and School's Out Are Available!
It's about time for Rhino to release some Alice Cooper reissues since it has been over 20 years since the amazing Life and Crimes of Alice Cooper Boxset, the updated greatest hits CD called Mascara and Monsters, the very cool 2CD reissue of Billion Dollar Babies and a very cool remaster of Welcome To My Nightmare. Prior to those reissues, Metal Blade Records released very cool remastered editions of Muscle Of Love, Lace and Whiskey and From The Inside. I never thought Rhino would put out more Alice Cooper reissues so I thought I would be doomed to the original WB CD issues which all sound horrible! I did get the Japanese mini-sleeve editions that came out about 10 years ago which are all fantastic and the mini album art was done with amazing attention to detail. Both new 2023 Rhino Reissues full of awesome live and studio outtakes are amazing and remastering is as good, if not better than the mini-sleeve editions.I hope Rhino has plans to reissue the rest of the Alice Cooper catalog very soon because I want to hear Love It To Death, Pretties For You and Easy Action get the same care and treatment! A re-reissue of Billion Dollar Babies would be welcome as well since I think the 2 disc version from 2001 is out of print. Hey Rhino? PLEASE REMEMBER THE COOP!

Great remix and packaging
The remix of Killer is excellent. Much cleaner than original. Good feedback from the group on each song. The live material mixed. Some songs sound good while others seem flat. Band was supposed to play at 11 pm, but didn't go on until sunrise per Dennis Dunaway, so maybe some of it is due to fatigue. With such a theatrical group, I think it's hard to capture the whole experience on a record. Saw them on their Billion Dollar Babies tour and they were great. Wish Alice would tour with original band.

Killer Reborn
After years of putting up with a hissy, sub-standard cd version, we're finally getting "Killer" as it was meant to be heard. This is one of the original Alice Cooper's classic albums, which includes the gnarly/sick anthem, "Dead Babies," and the frenetic and heavily caffeinated "You Drive Me Nervous." This edition also includes a second disc with live versions of songs from "Killer" and other albums. Big smiles.

Super package. Great live show and extras!
First of the packaging is really solid, and if you choose to stick the macabre calendar poster up on the wall, you don't have to tear it off at the perforations as It is a standalone.Great liner notes too, with interviews.LP 1. Original album - Best post-70's repress. Smashes the recent Friday Music versions. My original press is still more dynamic, but this is a very close second. Play it loud (how it is supposed to be) if you want to get the most out of this mastering. NO floor noise at all.LP 2/3. Live concert - Just fabulous. Great recording and a super snapshot of what made the Alice Cooper Band not just a visual assault, but a sonic explosion. Jamming in their own reckless Sunset Strip style, I hear a band that rivaled The Doors for a "What the hell did we get ourselves into?" vibe.LP Alternate extras - If you are a fan, these cuts are must listens.

Great remaster
Loved it! Recommended too. A must have for the Alice Cooper fan !! 1 of 11 CDs crammed into an envelope. 7 had busted up jewel cases. Luckily the Alice Cooper remasters are digi packs . I recommend Importcds.com . I think Amazon has smashed enough merchandise before they even pack it.

What's up with the "A fans note" taking up the three panel inside?
The sound quality is definitely better than my original Warner Brothers CD and the live stuff, though a bit rough around the edges, is worth the admission.. The alternate tracks, particularly, "You Drive Me Nervous", are absolutely essential (as is the entire CD, come to think of it). But I have a real beef with the wasted space in the three panel inside. Why waste three panels with someone telling his story about what "Killer" has meant to him over the years. Duh! We bought the CD, you are talking to the choir. Granted the writer was a former editor of CREEM, but why not have two of the panels with the poster/calendar and one panel for the writer to wax enthusiastic? Or, here's an idea: put the writer's comments in the insert and give us another vintage photo? Speaking of the insert, the original group members' comments on the tracks are really informative. It's nice to hear from Mike, Neal and Dennis. Oh, by the way: RIP Glen!

Excellent Remaster and Presentation
Its about time that Warner Brothers Records/Rhino remastered this classic album as well as School's Out. There is a notable improvement in sound quality from CD version that has been available for over the last 30 years. This is arguably Alice Cooper's best album and I definitely recommend it to anyone who is only familiar with the band through various greatest his compilations. The album also includes a bonus disc of live performances from the era which were awesome to hear. The set also includes a brief essay when you open it up and a booklet containing photographs and interviews with the band members. The band members and Bob Ezrin all discuss the history behind each song on the album.Overall, this is a great set and I am hoping that Rhino will give Love it to Death and Billion Dollar Babies similar treatment in the next year or two.

Enfin!
Miam!

Great Music!
KILLER EXPANDED CDI have listened to this album since it's release in LP. The live tracks and extras are a superb addition. Thanks to Rhino for releasing great Alice Cooper Group material. I would have liked to have the CD album packaging in keeping with the original LP. A miniature replica of the LP with the AC hanging photo calendar attached to the gatefold. Maybe it was considered to be not possible to manufacture (my LP calendar did fall off after a while of use) see photo or maybe the photo content may have not been very PC for 2023. Is this why the calendar was demoted to a small slot hidden in the internal booklet and not in prominence where it belongs? The 'A Fan's Note' could have been placed in the booklet. Anyway having said all this it's great stuff to have at last, good pictures, notes, raw sound ACG live music and will get played over and over.
