Solid purchase.
A little heavier than the usual Spears & Jackson Wilkinson Sword options but clearly heavier duty and more substantial. I had cause to claim a Bulldog fork free replacement under the lifetime warranty a year ago and found the company most obliging. Hopefully this will not be necessary as the tool looks impressively robust . I have toyed with grinding a slightly sharper edge on the blade but will try it for a while first.I gave a four star rating for value for money simply because it was noticeably more expensive than the rest but am confident " you get what you pay for".

Very sturdy
I bought this to edge into heavy clay soil which is so hard to work with. It's a tough tool and suits the task it's built for.

Built to last
This is a well made, sturdy tool that is far superior to the flimsy cutters from some of the larger and perhaps more well known brands. The only reason why I haven’t given it 5 stars is that the cutting blade could really do with being a bit sharper. I’m a 200lb+ bloke and so able to exert a fair amount force yet can still find it a little harder work than should really be necessary to cut into more compacted turf with this tool. The only benefit of the cutters from other manufacturers is that their stainless steel cutting blades are thinner and sharper so do penetrate a little easier - they don’t last but are easy to use while they do. So, overall, the Bulldog edging knife is great and still a much better buy than others I have had and used. However, it could be better still if the cutting edge was made sharper in manufacture.

A tool with an engineering build quality, that is excellent!
This is undoubtedly a robust edging knife, having always relied on edging using strimmers this is a breeze to use. In comparison to edging using a strimmer, this manual tool certainly minimises the risk of damaging turf edges. It is more expensive than similar tools, but what you get with this tool is an excellent heavy duty edging knife, that will surpass other edgers where the joint between the handle and blade bends and ultimately snaps.Having used this tool frequently, on a weekly basis for a considerable amount of time, I have had no issues with exacting ground that consists of thick roots and stones, the tool is quite simply perfect in all aspects. Make no mistake this product has been engineered with quality and toughness in mind. With a thick blade of around 5mm and metal that continues up almost half-way up the handle. At the narrowest point it is still around an inch thick.Despite the more expensive cost of this tool, I have no hesitation in recommending this tool as an addition to a garden tool, which will undoubtedly stand the test of time.If you found my review helpful, please click the "Yes" button to state this so I know its been a help to someone. Thank you!

No messing!
I actually bought a dirt cheap edging iron from Poundstretcher first! It broke after 20 seconds of use, well there's a surprise! This led me to the Bulldog version on Amazon, which is actually fit for purpose! Strong and sturdy and highly recommended. I wonder if Bulldog does a longer version for taller people? I'm 6'2" - hardly a basketball player - but I'm sure a handle a few inches longer would make it a tad easier to use. Otherwise excellent.

Supreme Quaily
I have broken three edging tools in four years. Stones or matted clover stalks are the main culprits. This one, however, is superb and I expect to keep for many years. It is a battleship, easily slicing trough the turf. I did run my secateur sharpener over the edge but I don’t think it really needed. The build quality is so good that I’m now looking at my spade an fork with a jaundiced eye. Well done Bulldog! (And I don’t often say that!).
