Can you adjust the temperature?

No, there is no temperature control selection. All you do is push down the black lever and it will shut off automactially once it reaches it's boiling temperature.

is it a 2 or 3 prong? Is there a hole on the top part of the kettle where the handle is?

The article we bought has a three prong, USA power plug at the end of the cord. Not sure I understand your second question but the only 'hole' at the top is the spout. When the water boils there is no whistle, if that is what you mean.

No rust for as long as we have had it ~ almost a year.
