Such a touching book!
This book broke my heart, it made me feel for the characters and left me wanting more. Glimmer of Hope is a standalone written by Sarah M Eden but it is in the same world as The Lancaster Family series and The Jonquil Brothers series. I have been slowly working through my list of Sarah M Eden books and Glimmer of Hope was next on my list. Miranda Harford was such a strong woman, I felt so bad for her but I was also amazed by all she endured. She was a woman whose husband had left and yet she still trudged on. She was also sick, but she tried her best not to let her sickness stop her from caring for others. I wanted her to find peace and happiness. I also felt bad for Carter, but I wanted to hit him at times. He was completely obvious to Miranda, however as the book went on he grew. I liked how Carter was kind and he truly did care for Miranda, he was just hurt by lies he had been told. I liked how Carter tried to make amends once he learned the truth, and how he stood by Miranda. I really enjoyed the depth of the characters and reading about them falling in love. I thought that Miranda was such an amazing woman and she was really cool! At times Carter got on my nerves, but I knew that he loved Miranda so I bore with him by the end of the book I could say that I liked him. Miranda and Carter had so much history that they needed to work though. Glimmer of Hope was a sweet clean historical romance, I loved the story and romance. I would definitely recommend this book!

Sad but hopeful romance
The first time I read this book it made me feel so sad and I kinda prefer feeling happy so it was a hard book for me. I didn't want to read it again for that reason. But I'm doing a weekly read thing and this was the book for this week so I read it again. I loved it so much more this time. It is still very sad. Heartbreaking really. Three wasted years because of someone else's selfishness. In the beginning of the book I was completely team Miranda. Carter was a jerk. But as the story progresses and as the reader we get to see his side of the story as well it becomes clear that something is amiss. How can they both be wronged? And there is the conflict of the book. Which is the villain? It takes almost the entire book to learn the truth. And after all their pain, the truth is painful too. I was teary multiple times while reading. Thankfully, the book ends on a more hopeful note even though we can foresee more pain at some point in the future. At least we know they can be happy together until the sadness comes. My first reading was via audiobook but this time I had the ebook.Potential trigger: death of premature infantSex: noLanguage: noViolence: no

Good clean romance, but you will need tissues!
I LOVE Sarah M, Eden's books and this one does not disappoint...but this story is heartbreaking. I read this entire book in one evening. No, that is not normal for me; and Yes, I was up all night! I couldn't put it down. This is a story of redemption that unfolds as each person learns the other person's side...slowly and painfully the pieces fall together. It is a beautiful story of two people who think they know what happened to their marriage but didn't communicate directly with each other. It is how they learn to trust each other again as they learn the truth of what really did happen (they still love each other but have been so incredibly hurt by the actions of the other they don't trust). OH my heart broke over and over again.I loved the life lesson that defines the entire story. See, (I won't tell you who) feels they are the victim in all of this and very justified to treat the other coldly. Which is true, they are a victim, but not how they think. How many times have I felt very justified in my anger only to belatedly understand how wrong I was?! Yes, it is a very painful journey. This story makes you want to hold on to the ones you love and fight for them.Good Job Sarah M. Eden! It is so hard to find good clean romances that aren't preachy or unbelievable. This is a good one, but prepare yourself with some kleenexes.Just a side note, many of Mrs. Eden's books are tangental to another one of her books. Lord D. has a conversation about his absent wife with Harry in Courting Ms. Lancaster. :) And he is mentioned in As You Are when they need help from some respected politicians. I am goofy, but I think it is kinda fun that her characters run consistent to their characters through several books. (The Duke and Duchess are revisited in several other books too.)

Loved it, even though it made me cry.
This is another republished work for this author. I actually own the original book called, Through All Hopes, and read it back in 2009. I don't know what, if anything, was changed when it was republished. I'll have to see if I can find out without having to go page by page comparing my two copies. I also don't know what was different this time around, but the first time I read it I gave it three stars and this time, I gave it five. I loved it!This is one of Sarah's more depressing (that's not quite the right word) books, but I really liked the characters and I wanted so desperately for things to work out for them. They both have misconceptions of how things went wrong and neither are completely in the right, but mostly they don't know where they have been wrong. I literally had to hold back tears regarding some of the things that Miranda had to deal with. I am a mother, a wife, and have experienced something that happened to her character (trying to not give away any spoilers here) and couldn't imagine going through that with an estranged husband. The plot moved at a nice pace, but with tension, sadness, and happiness here and there. What also struck me was that the author let us see the more fake/manipulative side of the English aristocracy during that time period. Not everyone had loving families and parents who let them marry for love, in fact I don't believe that most did marry for love, but for rank and wealth. So, dealing with all those difficulties, why did I love it? The characters, my interest in the plot, and that there was hope for a happy ending. I think the title fits perfectly. I also love the cover! If you like Sarah's books or Historical Romance, I would definitely recommend reading this!Content: CleanSource: Purchased

I really enjoyed this book. I thought the interactions between Miranda and Carter were suitably awkward at first, and then increasingly warm and familiar as they remembered how and why they initially grew to love each other.I will admit that I had my suspicions about what might have happened to make Carter think Miranda had left him, and vice versa, but when the full story was revealed, it was even more heartbreaking than I had anticipated. My favourite quote from the book: "God gave us hope. God also gave us love. You can't have one without the other."

A very poor read
Not much of a story and the characters are unrealistic. Forced myself to finish it. Do not recommend this book.
