Not very practical, but nice coffee table book
Beautiful photography and atmospheric descriptions of locations and swims but the continuing product placement (Packtowl and UGG boots are apparently mandatory) and lots of navel gazing spoilt the reading experience. The locations are not divided geographically so if you are looking for wild swims in, say, Wiltshire, you basically have to flick through from cover to cover or refer to the confusing index on swims by map reference on page 208. There is also a list of '34 ways to say "it's cold" ', space that might have been filled with more useful information instead.I would recommend getting Wild Swimming by Daniel Start instead, which includes more practical information but does not feature lidos, beaches or tide pools.

I really liked this book
A very well written book, illustrated with wonderful photos that make you just want to get out there and swim. Great to flip through for the pictures alone, but so much more; This book gives details of where to go and how to get there along with some personal experiences and wise words from Kate Rew. Less biographical than Waterlog, Waterlog: A Swimmer's Journey Through Britain it describes the individual personality of each swimming experience, from wild and isolated mountain streams to sunwarmed secluded rock-pools. Even if you never intend to wild swim this is a lovely book for daydreaming that one day you could. Wild Swim

Just the job/swim
Yes this book delivers on all fronts.I have lived in France for the past year or so, I needed to locate lakes and river that are 'off the beaten tract'This book does just that in a non-fussy manner. Alerting the reader as to the terrain and degree of difficulty.Pete
