UPDATE AFTER ANOTHER YEAR - it's still in great shape and with fantastic results! Yes, it was worth every penny. First I tried cheap 11" trowel thinking that expensive ones are for semi professionals. Cheap trowel made a horrible mess and lots and lots of marks made by sharp edges. It also warped during flattering so I decided to try another one. I could not believe previous reviews of this trowel but decided to give it a go. It's not cheap, but I am very, very surprised with quality and finish. Wall finish is now much better even though this is longer trowel. No marks, no rust (Stainless Steel) and much less sticky than cheap trowel so easier to work with. I could not believe how good the handle is compared to cheap products. I would say that if you are a DIYer, don't try to save money on a trowel as these only create a mess and puts people off plastering.

I've tried plastering (DIY at home) a few times over the years with acceptable results, using a cheap float. A few months I bought a house that needed many walls and ceilings plastering, so I decided to take the time to practice and get better at DIY plastering. As part of this process I found most articles and reviews saying that the one important tool was a good float -- and the one most agreed as the best is this Marshalltown. Spending ten times the price of the cheap float on this product did not come easily, but I believed the reviewers and took the plunge. Now I cannot say if the big improvement in my plastering is all down to the Marshalltown float, or to extra practice making my technique better (probably both), but the results now are far more professional. The float is a pleasure to use, and even after a few months (several rooms -- a lot for me but just a days work for a real plasterer) the float is as good as new. It did not need "wearing in". Conclusion. Expensive (for an amateur) but I am happy I bought it.

I have to rate this 5 stars as it is an unmatchable tool. Marshal town continue to impress with their high standard of trowels and hand tools. I use this every day for 7 - 8 hours and it has shown no signs of major wearing or breaking, and have had it for 2 years. It has only become sharper with use, as trowels do. This trowel is perfect in size for any 'house bashing' plasterer as the size of it allows for super fast applying and trowelling, without being too long that you get lines from every sweep. The only negative with this trowel was the price as when I bought it, it cost me £60, but now I think you can get them for £40 from Amazon. My father who has been plastering for 26 years has finally bought one and thinks its a great quality tool.

I was slightly apprehensive about the price, but the high star reviews convinced me - I'm so happy I took the advice! It works like a dream. I used it to finish the surface of a large limecrete floor. I now have the walls to plaster and I'm actually looking forward to it :-)

I’m a Carpenter that uses this for finishing concrete, Awesome trowel, light, feels good in hand and leaves a great finish. Would recommend to anyone in the trade. Would buy again!

Ce platoir biseauté est juste parfait. bonne prise en main avec la poignée adaptée. Travail propre... il n'a pas un seul point de rouille. j'en prends grand soin car c'est vraiment un outil de qualité. Le prix est un peu élevé mais vu l'ampleur des travaux que j'avais a faire je ne regrette pas
