Spicy. Incredibly convenient and quick to prepare
There are so many options here for super fast Indian food. I started with the Aloo Matar, and each set contains five individual boxes of each meal. They are in a foil type bag, and there are two servings in each one. You can put them in the microwave or you can put them in a pot of boiling water for 3 to 5 minutes. I don't use my microwave because I don't think it's healthy, so I just boiled some pasta and through this inside while it was cooking and it was perfect and super efficient that way. I will disclose I'm from the rural Midwest area, and I'm not entirely seasoned on different cultural foods out there but constantly trying new things. So, I don't eat Indian food often but I do like it. I run a busy household, and easy foods are important, but because of our food sensitivities and allergies, it can be difficult. These packets that I ordered are perfect for us and won't make us sick. The Aloo Matar is yummy. It's incredibly spicy, and it is a gravy with peas and potatoes. I can taste the fenugreek. I ended up using it in pasta, but I'll probably make it again with white rice. 8-year-old and I both liked it. Methi Matar is peas in gravy. It has a fenugreek taste as well and pretty spicy. If you have a hot date planned later in the day, I would avoid eating any of these on that particular day since they will smell your breath until next Tuesday. I like it. So quick! You can just throw some rice in a rice cooker and heat this up in a few minutes and you can have a meal.

Flavorful and quick! Very convenient!
We tried three varieties of Ashoka Ready to Eat Indian Meals. We love that they're all vegan and gluten-free! We ate them with some buckwheat for the starch. The mild one that we tried is Shahi Methi Matar, and we still felt that it had a little bit of spice. I didn't love the seasoning on this one, so it's definitely not my favorite. My husband liked it more. The Aloo Matar is a medium spice, and it's too hot for some of my family members. It's mild, according to my daughter. I like the flavors in this one much more. It's a nice combination of vegetables, too. The Dal Tadka is a classic with decent heat. We eat a lot of dal and enjoy various types. I especially like when mango is added, as in this dal. It's a mix of two legumes, and it's spicy and filling. Overall, we like the shelf-stable convenience of these Ashoka vegan meals. Highly recommend!!

So quick and easy! Great over rice...
I've gotten to try several variations of these Ashoka Ready to Eat Indian Meals. This Aloo Matar is one of my favorites, as it has potatoes. Each variation is vegetable based, of a soup like consistency, and all are great over rice. I've made my own instructions for preparing these meals, as I always make at least 4 cups of rice to go with each packet, because I'm a lightweight when it comes to all of the spicy goodness. I cook my rice in a pressure cooker, and as soon as I release the remaining pressure after a 10 natural release. I then add one meal packet to the rice, and close the lid to let it sit for the next 10-12 minutes. This is plenty of time for the rice to finish cooking, and heat the "soup" to piping hot. These are a bit spicy for my taste, but so flavorful. One packet is enough to flavor my rice, cut the spiciness, and give me leftovers for a couple of nights. Mind you, I have never tried authentic Indian food, so I have nothing to compare any of these dishes to. This, and all of the Ashoka Ready to Eat Indian Meal varieties are so easy to cook, have lots of flavor, and each packet makes a great meal for one or two people. They come very well packaged, have a best by date of about a year out, and are made with wholesome ingredients. These meals are a bit pricey for my budget, but if you can swing it, I would absolutely recommend them!

Absolutely delicious potato and pea recipe that is vegan with all natural ingredients
Ashoka Aloo Matar is a product of India. It is one of the best ready to eat traditional Indian meals that I have tried. The carton contains five 10 oz packs. Each pack is listed as containing two servings and a single serving has 260 calories, 19g fat, 30mg of cholesterol, 310 mg sodium, 16g carbs and 6g protein. The ingredients include: potato, tomato, water, onion, green peas, tomato paste, sunflower oil, cashewnut, garlic, melon seeds, ginger, salt, coriander powder, red chilli powder, garam masala (coriander, chilli, cumin, bay leaf, black pepper, cinnamon, clove, black cardamom, star anise, fennel, dried ginger, salt & caraway), cumin, green chilli, sugar, turmeric powder, dry mango powder, dried fenugreek leaves, cinnamon and clove. There are two ways to heat it but I chose 2 minutes in the microwave with a splatter guard to cover the bowl. It makes a really tasty and spicy meal with just the perfect amount of medium heat. Ashoka Aloo Matar more than meets my expectations for a very tasty Indian food. The bags that I got have a Best Before date that is 14 months in the future.

Homemade is of course better, but this is delicious
Ashoka Ready to Eat Indian Meals Since 1930, 100% Vegan Aloo Matar, All-Natural Traditionally Cooked Indian Food, Plant-Based, Gluten-Free and with No Preservatives, 10 Ounce (Pack of 5) (Aloo Matar, 10 Ounce (Pack of 5)) I have had prepared Indian food from this brand before, but I hadn’t tried this flavor, and was excited to do so. Of course, preprepared meals aren’t as good as freshly cooked ones, but this brand has always done a great job, and this one is no exception. The spicy level is probably a had hotter than most people would like; it all depends on your heat tolerance. I loved it, and I could have probably stood a little hotter. This is easy to prepare and tastes good. Highly recommend.
