Elegant and well made. One thing to know about the butter bell. First buy quality European style butter. Higher the fat content the better. I read some of the comments that stated the butter went rancid..Number one change the water at least every 2-3 days that is very important to avoid issues with odor etc. .. when you fill the bell with the butter ( the lid) made certain you push down as best you are able. Then place it in the jar. If you filled it too high then water the excess will leak out...I have yet to be disappointed with this product.

This is my fourth Tremain Butter Bell! No problem with the Bell but I found that they work for more than butter! Try cream cheese for Sunday Brunch or Irish Butter. Even use multiple for big family dinners. Got my entire family using them now. Easy to put into the dishwasher so they are always ready to be filled. The size is perfect of the butter sticks. I like the colors available. The lid or bell is very easy to lift out and set on the counter or table all by itself. So far they have survived my big family dinners and holidays so I consider that money saved. No more broken butter dishes!

I'm going to start this review with, "I'm not using this the way you're supposed to." I really like this crock. It keeps the butter covered while out on the counter, and it's heavier and sturdier than every butter dish I've tried. I have three dogs, and dog hair flying around the house is pretty much a guarantee. This crock is keeping out all the dog hair. Some butter dishes I've tried don't seal all the way, or they're uneven, so there are little air holes here and there. I use this crock upside down. I have a piece of buttered toast pretty much every day, sometimes twice a day. So I'm in this crock on a daily basis. Changing the water wouldn't have been a big deal, but it's pretty cold outside here right now, and I keep my house pretty cool in the winter and hot in the summer. Right now, the butter is hard, whether or not I use the water part of this crock. In the summer, my butter melts on the counter, so storing it upside down would likely result in a mess for me. Most people keep their homes in what's considered a normal temperature range, so I suspect this would work perfectly for most people. I'm giving this four stars only because the description states it keeps your butter nice and spreadable, and that's simply not true in all cases (I was skeptical when I bought this, but it cost half as much as the ceramic butter dish I was considering). So if you're someone who keeps your house around 60 in the colder months, this crock will not keep your butter spreadable. But it will keep your butter just as fresh as a butter dish, and it does look fantastic on the counter (takes up less horizontal space, too!). Thanks to the width of the base of the part that holds the butter, the whole thing seems fairly sturdy upside down. I'm clumsy, especially in the kitchen in the morning, and I have yet to knock over this crock.

This butter bell is awesome. Take out a stick of butter from fridge, set it on counter for a couple hours and when it is nice and soft, take a teaspoon and scoop the butter into the butter bell while pressing it in and spreading it evenly until it reaches almost to top. I put a small ice cube with cold water in the bottom dish and place the top with the butter in it upside down into the cold water and wallaaaa! You have cool spreadable butter every am for breakfast or great when making grilled cheese! When it is empty, just wipe it out with paper towel, wash it quick, dry it and re- fill with a new stick. I tell my boys, when you finish all the butter in the butter bell, just take out a cold stick from fridge and leave them out on counter so i know it is time to re-fill! It is so cute, holds over a stick of butter, and is small enough to leave out on counter without taking up alot of space. Your butter always ready to spread!

This is my favorite gift to give and just recently purchased my fourth one! We love ours and the three I gifted are loved by their new families. Butter stays fresh and soft on your counter, all sealed up in a beautiful crock. Lots of colors and several styles to choose from; I highly recommend for yourself and for a unique and much-loved gift.

I personally love butter on my toast and crumpets..This product solves the problem of having to soften the butter first in order to make it spreadable...Easy to use...simply wash before use...Dry then pour about an inch of cold water into the base unit then pack half a 250g stick of ( i prefer salted ) butter into the other half and your good to go...I find its easier if you leave the half stick of butter out of the fridge for a couple of hours which softens it and makes it easier to pack into the container..Pack it in tightly with the back of a spoon to make sure there are no air bubbles etc...Then just change the water every 3 or 4 days. The butter out of the unit is easily spreadable and the water creates an airtight seal which keeps the butter fresh for up to 30 days....Butter and water do not mix so when you lift the top of the container to scrape some butter out any water just drips off leaving you with lovely spreadable butter !!! Sorry i nearly forgot...when you first wash out the product and every time thereafter...after washing hold the top part of the unit under the running cold tap...this prevents the unit retaining any heat which might cause the newly packed in butter to fall out. One last thing.. this and most of all the other Butter bells out there hold half of a 250g pack of butter = 125g..Doesnt seem a lot but each refill on mine usually lasts around 2 weeks

Conocí este sistema para conservar la mantequilla hace un par de años, en casa de unos alemanes, y he de decir que me encantó. Lo busqué en Amazon hace un par de meses y encontré algunos vendedores alemanes que los vendían a precios prohibitivos, por eso, cuando hace unas semanas volví a hacer la búsqueda y los vi de nuevo tan bonitos y a ese precio, no me lo pensé dos veces. Super práctico y muy bonito. Perfecto para disfrutar la mantequilla a temperatura ambiente, untable y con sabor. Estamos encantados con la compra.

This dish works so well, as long as water is changed every 2 days, butter stays spreadable and fresh for over a week. Easy to clean and looks great
