Dark Country

I thought it was a good twilight zone like movie
I purchased Dark country starring thomas jane-who was in a punisher movie.( and like somebody said here before thomas janes punisher was the best punisher movie of all of the punisher movies thus far)but back to the movie dark country...I thought the movie dark country was a good, atmospheric, twilight zone like movie.if you like the twilight zone you will probably like this one too. it was about about two honeymooners(thomas jane & lauren german)who rescue a mysterious car crash survivor in the middle of the las vegas desert but their decision to save the man becomes regrettable when he turns on them and crazy things happen. I thought the plot, the atmospheric scenes, cool car, hotel, bar, rest room, etc where all well done with a surprise ending to boot! some people here did not like this movie but I sure did and I recommend it,especially if your a fan of rod serlings twilight zone like I am.

A true "sleeper"
This is a surprisingly suspenseful, creepy film which I'd never even heard of. I discovered the title when I was reading a book about film noir. It turns out to belike an extended Twilight Zone episode (with a great twist at the end). Well worth a look but don't expect a big budgetfilm. If it had come out in the '50s, it would be a classic "B" movie.

Great
Movie was good as hell. The movie is kinda old but the green screen is sick asf. Real authentic movie and great acting.

what a surprise!
I am one of the world's biggest movie buff, who just loves horror movies, and this movie delivered big time. It has gore, and it keeps you guessing and wondering what the heck is going on! There are moments were i found the acting alittle bit cheesy, but overall is was awesome. And the ending is the best part. I hate to be told about a movie, especially if i haven't seen it, so I won't spoil the surprise. It's worth watching.

A suspenseful plot and complicated ending.
The story is kind of in slow motion, it only starts to rev up in the final sequences, in the last half hour or so. I enjoyed the movie, but regarding the ending I had to resort to an explanation of the ending at YouTube, as it is kind of confusing to understand.

just okay
I liked the overall look of the film, but I could not recommend it. the story itself was not made interesting enough to care about anybody or anything.

not much light
This movie might count as a thinking movie only because it will leave the viewer pondering over how it can be rationalised. We can't help asking whether the wife was killed first, and if so, was the husband or the stranger who killed her. It seems most probable that the husband killed her. The question is, why? They were travelling to their new life together on the first day of marriage. Did something she said, or something she did (to herself) in the car that caused him to go mad? Other than that, this movie deserved no more than 2 stars.

stunning movie
the best way I can describe the film is a like a feature length 'twilight zone' episode directed by david lynch. the whole film has that semi-dream like mystery that lynch manages to create in his films while also haveing that weirdness and that chcarcter driven story that made 'the twilight zone' so popular.but of course this film isn't directed by david lycnh, but by the great actor 'Thomas Jane'. It was his directorial feature debut and it is amazing. if i hadn't known, i wouldn't have thought it was his first film directing as it really does have a lot of polish. Thomas jane also acts in the film and he is just as good as ever. Bearing in mnd the majority of the film is just two people in a car its amazing how compelling the film is.being a fan of Thomas Jane I've wanted to see this film for a while but it just hasn't been released in the UK.this french blu ray is the next best thing. the picture quality is brilliant although at times does highlight the limitations to the tny budget they were working at (especially some bad CGI at the end) the blu ray also contains FORCED french subtitles which were slightly annoying, but considring this is the only way to get the film on blu ray i can live with it and they're not too distracting.there is a nice english commentry on the disk as well as quite a nice behind the scenes feature.if you can live with the french subtitles I cannot reccomend this enough...........

Good 3D, Interesting movie. Shame abut the subtitles.
This is the French version and unfortunately has forced French subtitles that cannot be removed of the English language version. However, the 3D is excellent and the movie is engrossing. If it did not have subtitles, I would have given it 4 stars.

Beatiful little movie with a grand design
For a first time director, this is an outstanding finished product, many times more impressive when considering that the director is also playing the lead part. The best description I can come up with is that it's as if Hitchcock directed a script by David Lynch, though this doesn't give enough credit to the pulp, comic book and various other influences that smoothly blends into this little gem of a film. My only (very, very slight) complaint is that the 2D version of the film is put twice on the DVD disc, one normal and one for the commentary. It would seem to make more sense to have had it one time only and had the commentary as an extra audio track so the quality could have been increased since the picture does show some colour banding in a few scenes.

Instant classic
Fantastic directorial debut. Thomas Jane pulls off a dual role as a strong lead and a director in this mess-with-your-mind thriller. The movie clearly takes inspiration from old school B movies and brings them straight into the 21st century.

Awfull 3D, nice movie.
My review of two stars is not because of the movie which is a nice horror one, very well filmed in excellent colour. It is about the 3D rendition for which you have to use 3D glasses with a red and a blue filter (for each eye), and not the quality grated (polarized) filter. This makes watching the movie very uncomofortable. Forget the beautiful colours of the 2D original. I am surprised to find out that Sony chose the red-blue filter option for the 3D transfer. A waste of money. Recommended for the movie plot, but not for the 3D transfer.
