Genuine, authentic and readable with real content
Unlike typical autobiographies, this book is not just a narration of events in author's life. Faf du Plessis comes across as a deep thinker of the game with a strongly opinionated philosophy, and he shares them through this book. The book is 80% his ideology on how to run a cricket team, and 20% on himself. Even though you might not agree with some opinions, it makes for good reading on account that every chapter has real content rather than pages filled-up with trivialities about big players for the heck of it. it is quite revealing of the man and of his thoughts about the game

Brutally honest, highly interesting
What a read, I was expecting something really cool from one of the modern greats of the game and Faf didn't disappoint. It's even better than what was expected. A book that would make you accept your shortcomings and still motivate you to keep working on your strengths and to keep walking towards your goals. It tells a great deal about how to take losses, criticism, embarassement and still end up being a winner. Go for it, not just for Cricket fans only. Non-Cricket fans will love it too, provided they can relate to it.

No Photograph of FAF ?
I have read lot of Cricketer's Autobiography/Biography book and there are atleast eight to ten photographs of said Cricketer but it's wonder of wonders there is not a single photograph of one of the Greatest Cricketers - FAF Duplessis in his recently published Autobiography Book -'FAF' shame to 'Penguin' Publisher

A brilliant sports autobiography
'Faf : Through Fire' is a brilliant sports autobiography and a fascinating read. Du Plessis talks candidly about his achievements, struggles and failures in this book. His journey to become a world renowned cricketer was an uphill climb and getting to know the man behind that immense fame in his own words was nothing short of a wonderful experience. It doesn't get too much into technicalities and that's why it was way more enjoyable than I had expected. While talking about the major controversies in his career, Du Plessis certainly wasn't mincing his words. 2015 world cup selection controversy and South Africa's disappointing world cup performances - his autobiography gives a unique, behind the scene perspective into all of these and more. Reasons behind his retirement from international cricket has also been covered extensively. He turned his stint in IPL into a learning experience and I loved that for him. Working under various managements and leaderships helped him grow into a great leader himself. He takes you through his mindset inside the field while playing some of his greatest and disappointing innings. The locker room stories are equally compelling. It's truly a must read for cricket fans. All in all, 'Faf :Through Fire' is honest, insightful and, at times, vulnerable account of a man who defied all odds through hard work and determination. He is protea fire personified. What I didn't like about this book was how repetitive it could get sometimes. Still, highly recommended from my side!

A brave and honest autobiography
A very bravely written book, where Faf ushers the readers to a detailed narrative of his life's journey so far. It is not simply about his cricket but all his life experiences that have shaped him and continue to do so. Its a rare self assessment that is honestly brutal. In fact, some sections can be turned into self-help material on how to introspect, acknowledge, work on and overcome your flaws. Got too detailed in some parts, but overall a very poignant read.

Hard and soft skills firing at the same time
Very few leaders understand the importance of both hard and soft skills and how getting both of them firing at the same time can be a game changer. Most leaders only focus on hard skills. Faf provides numerous examples of how he used soft skills in very difficult situations. His ability and willingness to engage in tough conversations is unusual and sets him apart as a leader. I loved this aspect of the book.

Interesting but.....
As an avid cricket fan I found this book cliche abuzz word ridden. F2f repeats himself very often. It is 'heavy' book and interesting from the sports psychological point of view. I would like to have seen more results of matches. E.g. he describes just one game of the T20 against England and doesn't mention the score or the other games in the series. I found interesting the difficulties of bringing together a nation with the many different cultures and ethnicities.

such an interesting read
I think a very honest and open book, fully enjoyed the deep dive into leadership, mental and spiritual aspects that was encountered.

Not for me
Very disappointed. I wanted some cricket. What I got was a boring book about personal development and "team culture". Almost every page is about 'what he learnt' about his own personality problems. All taken very seriously and without any humour at all.I get the feeling that he was very pleased with himself when he was young and is even more pleased with himself now.Sorry Faf, Not for me

Faf goes much deeper into the emotional side of professional sport. Always have been a fan and I’m humbled to know more about his life.
