Product Description Nine-year-old Sam Paretta is dead, killed in a plane crash. Even though it's been fourteen months since the accident, his mother Telly (Julianne Moore, "Far From Heaven"), still grieves over the loss. But suddenly, her husband (Anthony Edwards, "ER") swears they never had a child and her psychiatrist (Gary Sinise, "C.S.I.: NY") insists she's delusional. But worst of all, there is absolutely noevidence to prove Sam ever existed. Haunted by the memories of her son, Telly's search for the truth propels her into a dark mind-shattering conspiracy of unearthly terror. .co.uk Review With a plot that might've been lifted from The X-Files, nothing is quite what it seems in The Forgotten, a psychological conspiracy thriller with Julianne Moore doing fine work as a grieving mother whose nine-year-old son was killed in a plane crash. At least, that's what she's been led to believe, but when even her husband (Anthony Edwards) tries to convince her that she's delusional and never had a child, things start to get very spooky indeed. Dominic West (from HBO's superb series The Wire ) plays a similarly traumatized father, and when they witness some very strange events--and a mysterious man (Linus Roache) who might be indestructible--this glorified B-movie potboiler directed by Joseph Ruben (best known for Dreamscape and The Stepfather) turns into a preposterous but entertaining trip into The Twilight Zone territory. Featuring Alfre Woodard as an intuitive New York detective and Gary Sinise as a seemingly sympathetic psychiatrist, The Forgotten offers adequate shocks and an intriguing, otherworldly study of tenacious parental instinct. It deserved its mixed reviews, but it's a fun spook-fest for rainy-day viewing. --Jeff Shannon, .com

suspenseful unearthy thriller
delivered with care as anticipated, this film ringed a bell heard of not seen a while so i ordered became intriguig, first glance reckoning its been plotted from the x files, but nothing is quite what figures, more going off in this than meets the eye, some strange bizarre turns, otherworldy sturdy trip with dark mind shattering dread other than elements of supernatural forms coming into play julianne moore is little of comfort zone as people insisting shes deluding, but shes remains adamant sonething is not right and clear, sets filmed well, story reads okay. worth a watch.not tedious and not long, it moves at pace.

A good film but what is the name "Telly" short for???
I hadn't heard of this film when it came up on my Amazon recommendations but I took a chance and ordered it. It is really very good. Julianne Moore plays the oddly named Telly (I did get rather distracted trying to figure out what on Earth can that be short for), a mother whose young son was killed in a plane crash some fourteen months previously. Telly isn't coping very well with her loss and is seeing a psychologist. Every day she spends hours going through her son, Sam's, things and watching old video footage of him. Her husband doesn't seem terribly supportive or grief-stricken and seems to take the view that she needs to move on. Then things get very, very strange and the film takes on a nightmarish quality. I don't want to give anything away so I will just say that Telly visits an old acquaintance, Ash, who is played by Dominic West and together they realise that things aren't what they seem. There is a daft scene where Telly rips off the wallpaper in Ash's study to reveal a children's mural, the only real weak spot in the film. If only all redecorating was so easy. Moore and West are great together on screen and I became totally immersed in the mystery that unfolds. It must have been difficult for the writers to come up with a credible ending and I think that they didn't quite succeed. There are lots of unanswered questions. Nevertheless, "The Forgotten" is a very watchable, enjoyable thriller.

Underrated in my opinion.
I think this film is underrated. It is never shown on TV, so I ordered the DVD. It is not a film I will watch every week, but it's a pretty good watch from time to time.

Julianne Moore is Wonderful
I love Julianne Moore and had not seen this-although a little out of her comfort zone she rose to the occasion and did an an excellent job. Julianne is a very accomplished actor and is incredibly intuitive and took the role full on.The story is an interesting one and the character she portrayed was multi layered and in fact the whole cast did very well in a well crafted story. Nicely filmed and the sets were good as well.Great all round movie which I would be happy to see again and now that it is I will.

THE FORGOTTEN
Julianne Moore stars in this unusual concept of a film. What if everything you believed in... every moment you experienced... and every memory you hold dear - Never Happened!!!!This is the situation that Telly Paretta finds herself in. She is tormented by the memory of her 8 year old son Sam's death in a plane crash. While trying to work through her grief she is informed by the psychiatrist that she is suffering from delusions and that her son never existed. Telly knows this is not true and sets out to seek the truth - which is certainly more that she expected. An interesting film with thought provoking notions?

Strange film, fascinating subject
Watched this last night with my daughter. Didn't think I was going to like it because it started off quite odd but once I got into it , it was great. A very strange movie with a bizarre subject matter, but pretty scary as well. Elements of the Supernatural come into play during the middle of the movie. Would definitely recommend and definitely will be watching this again.
