MOMA MUJI 60 Colored Pencils in Tube Review: Nice pencils at a great price - These Muji pencils are a really nice surprise, to say the least. They are soft, smooth, and decently pigmented. I love the plain natural cedar wood casings, which are thankfully sanded down for a good hand feel. However, because it’s hard to tell what the color will be from the pencil tip, I do wish these were end-capped in the color of the pencil, for fast reference. As it is, each pencil is numbered, although not in a standard color order, and you’ll need to make a swatch sheet. As there are no names on the pencils themselves, I named them myself on my swatch sheet. To help keep them organized for long term usage, I’ll be putting these in a single pencil slot case, as I’ve organized them in my swatch sheet. I’ve included photos of that swatch sheet for reference. These pencils go on smooth and pigmented, and they provide decent coverage of toned tan paper. I’d put them close to prismas in softness, but not quite. As for the colors included in this set, I’d say it’s a good range overall, with a few problems. The colors I’m calling “turquoise,” and “robin’s egg,” are nearly identical. Same with a couple yellows, two reds, and two light blues. In a set of 60 pencils, that’s 8 pencils that are too close together in hue. Otherwise, this set’s strength is that it has lots of light and medium skin tones, and some lovely purples. Considering that I paid 32$ including tax for this set of 60 pencils, (about .54 cents a pencil) I am very pleased, and will enjoy using these for sketching and in coloring books. I wish this brand had a set of 100. I’d certainly buy more of these, that’s for sure. Oh, and shipping from Japan arrived one day before the earliest window desertcart gave me for expected delivery, so that’s a plus. It’s still a good week and a half for shipping, but it’s free shipping from across the globe, so I’m not complaining! Review: Amazing pencils - I love these pencils. They are very soft and have great pigment. There is a great range of colors in the set. So many sets are full of grays or blues and only one or two pinks and purples. This set has five pinks and five purples as well as nice set of reds and yellows greens and blues. The colors are also more vibrant than in other sets. These pencils layer and blend really well. Apart from a lightfast rating these pencils are just as good as the Caran D'ache Luminance and Prismacolor which are the other soft core pencils I own. The only issue I have is that all the pencils have a plain wood barrel so you have to look at the tips to tell the difference and with the darker pencils you can't tell at all. I had to make a color chart. There are numbers on the individual pencils but they are smaller and in silver so they may be harder to see. Neither of those things bother me in fact I'm considering getting a second set of pencils as a back up. For the price these pencils are definitely worth it.

Really like these pencils!
Really like these pencils! Highly pigmented, blend and layer nicely even on smooth paper. I wish there was a little more variety in colors, but because they are so blendable i've been able to create colors I want. I only wish the colors were named or a splash of color on the pencil to help identify the color, the numbers are a little hard to read. Very nice pencils at a reasonable price.

Incredible pencils for the money.
The cores are small, but perfectly centered. Each pencil was sharpened identically to the next. The level of quality control is remarkable. I had 2 shipments sent to me from the USA to Dubai without issue. The leads are soft and blend well. Yes, it's annoying that there's no color or label on the barrel, but that's what makes them beautiful. They are minimalistic, durable, and high quality. Time to color swatch them and test the lightfastness in this Dubai desert.

Yes!!!!
Can you really go wrong with a Japanese colored pencil? The answer is no, no you can't. While these are a little pricier than most budget pencils, they are worth their weight in gold. Professional quality, asthetically pleasing, smell like lovely fresh cut wood, and performance is stellar. You want them, you need them, so go ahead and get them. You won't be disappointed I promise. And that's coming from a complete stranger so what could be more reliable? Lol. But for real, these are good. I wouldn't lie to you.
