Great for beginners.
Great introductory piece of kit for budding beat makers, comes with some starter software that's a bit of a pain to install but the device itself is almost plug + play. A slight delay with certain programs on pressing the keys, but with others it's great, you soon get used to the delay however so this is best used as either a practice tool or suffer through the mild frustration. However for the price it'd be hard to find something as well built.

Great value and works great for triggering playbacks.
I use this as part of my lighting setup with an Avolites T2 with the USB MIDI Triggering. This works fantastically for firing playbacks. Super responsive and comfortably fires multiple playbacks quickly and with ease. The software is a little tricky to get everything right but it's easy enough. Windows loves to keep changing which driver it's going to use and then breaks my control a little bit so beware of windows doing this to you! This is not the fault of the device.

First Impressions
My nanoPAD2 arrived this morning and I must admit I was intially caught out by the packaging. The USB lead is tucked neatly at one end under a cardboard flap so it appears the box is empty, hopefully that tip will save you a couple of minutes. Installation was swift, the drivers seemed to install well on Win7-64 even though the site suggests a fix would be needed for Win7 32/64. My tool of choice is Propellerheads Reason 6. Adding the nano2 to the Reason set up was simple and I was tapping away drums and messing about with synths in no time. The construction seems solid and the device itself is bigger than I expected which makes it very comfortable to play (for scale purposes the touchpad is similar in size to that of a notebook's). The 'Kaos' pad can be used in a number of modes which will be fun to play with even though I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet... The note-pads themselves have a decent - velocity sensitive - response and I had a lot of fun tapping out beats with it and I'm no drummer. One thing that seems to be a bit of a gripe is the apparant inability to change the octave of the pads themselves. While the touchpad is in 'touch scale mode' it is affected by octave shifts. This may be a limitation of my understanding of how to use this but I thought it was worth mentioning as I didn't even think of this when I bought it. I is perhaps possible to do this within the Korg Kontrol Editor but my brief experience with this software wasn't plesant. I will endeavour to flesh this part of my review when I have more experience. All in all though my 4* is based on the fact that this seems a quality bit of hardware for a very reasonable price.

Impressed
Needed to get more pads for my rig but without breaking the bank. Was a bit nervous considering the price when you compare to more premium controllers. The Nanopad is responsive and has a fantastic feel for legato sections, I absolutely love it for mapping melodic lines especially for stringed instruments. The push depth is shorter than some pads I've used. Still very usable for beat making, but I particularly love this feel for melody and feel it gives me more control for this purpose. No velocity issues encountered! The XY Pad is a new feature for me, and it's super responsive too. Hooked up through Mainstage, assignment was intuitive and caused no problems. I would absolutely purchase again and would recommend if you need a quick and affordable addition to your rig.

Product is fine, disapointed with Amazon's service though
This product is not as simple as it is implied to be. You get about 1 hundredth of the instructions on paper, and another 1 hundredth when you've completed some downloads :S Odd system. You do get the software bundle still, oh and a discount voucher, in euros, for health ingredients delivered to your door, Korg stickers or probably anything else would've made more sense. Once you do some homework, if you're not familiar with midi mapping expect to do some and then some more, it does make life easier on the production front and I may think, only thinking, about getting the controlpad. Still, despite it's downfalls this product would've been rated higher, if it wasn't for the sheer mess on Amazon caused with this order, actually a few orders at the same time. Other than being furious though, I'm also baffled. Everything over Christmas came early for me, never mind on time; and I have never had a bad experience with Amazon in the past. Credit goes to the chat room staff, 3 times now they've come to the rescue and profusely apologised for someone elses blunder.

Five Stars
Solid quality, installs itself, works well with midi. Zero complaints, top stuff at the price.

Virtually unusable
I have a padKontrol by Korg, which is excellent, so I thought I'd get the nano to use with my notebook for playing around with rhythm ideas. I was very dissappointed with this unit, which must use a different "strike" sensor to the padKontrol. It's impossible to get a midi value below around 40, which means you can't capture subtle accents or the full dynamic range available in midi. The size, feel and features are excellent for the price, such a pity Korg have forgotten about the most important thing, the playability. I returned mine for a refund. The returns service from Amazon is first class and gives me total confidence when making a purchase.

Creative goodness
I have hesitated too long to get this and I truly wish I had bought this earlier. Don't listen to the peeps who dismiss it for a toy, this is a great creative tool packed with options that are native to all the software I've tried it with so far.

Very useful for drums and bass

Super Controller! Man kann mehrere MIDI-Noten mit einem Pad triggern. Das Pad fühlt sich gut an. Schade, dass die dazu gehörige Software von Korg nicht besonders komfortabel ist. An sonsten: Alles gut!

Super produit et très bon rapport qualité prix. Je le branche directement sur mon iPad avec garage band et ça fonctionne nickel.

This pad controller is extremely compact, low profile and packed with very interesting and useful features. I also like the feel of both the sixteen pads and X-Y pad very much. The pads are great for drumming with good sensitivity. The downloadable editor software is pretty easy to use( as far as the basics go) but the documentation is a bit confusing, so a lot of discovery through experimentation is needed, but that is normal in the world of digital audio. The scale on the sixteen pads can be set to anything you like, with each pad individually adjustable for any note or cc value. But there are also some preset scales that you can choose from including major, minor, etc. The default scale setup is whole tones from left to right in each row with the top and bottom rows separated by a semitone, giving it a transposing arrangement by a shift of the hand(as long as you don't shift off the edge!). You can also select any midi channel for each pad, as well as choosing between momentary or toggle modes. The X-Y pad has several tricks of its own and gives some fun effects when combined with the arpeggiator. You can also assign the X and Y control to any cc value. Given that having sixteen pads and an X-Y pad is a useful tool to have in your midi arsenal and this is a well made instrument for a low price, it is a must have! You may wonder if you should spend more and get a sampling pad controller. Instead of spending a lot more, you could use this with sampling software, some of which you can get for free. After all, what makes a pad controller a sampling controller is the software. One excellent free sampling program is TX16wx. It is used as a plugin to your DAW and is superb! Another no cost option is the use the free DAW, LMMS which has a built in sampler(the sound file processor) and is an excellent DAW. LMMS does not do audio file recording so you can just add the free AUDACITY program which is also excellent.

Very good usb controler, good quality/price and works perfectly. Easy to use and very compact. You can download a Bundle of software in the Korg website.
