Good Stuff: Happy; Heat Gun Works Very Well
We're very happy with this purchase. We used it to waterproof pipes we've insulated for winter. We just cut a strip off the 17 foot side and wrapped as far a it would go and then started another; then we came back and hit it with the air from a heat gun and it shrank and stuck together mostly like you'd expect. The plastic adhered to itself--with some help--and shrank to fit very nicely even over pipe clamps and other semi-sharp bits, without tearing. If you overheat it, especially if you are heating it unevenly, it will form a hole, so you have to use some care. I don't know why the manufacturer/seller says you need a propane torch--if you have a heat gun, like you would use for any heavy shrink wrap (like wiring) or paint removal, it'll easily do the job. (A hair dryer is another story.) You do have to also be careful that you don't overheat whatever is under it (in our case, pipe insulation).
