Lounik African Kola Nuts 2 Lobes (16 0z)

I received these on time, put them in the fridge and when I went to use them, only two were not moldy

It was good and fresh

Unfortunately this batch came to me molded.

As soon as I opened the package - pungent smell of mold. Inside - all covered in thick mold and slime!

I’m not too familiar with the Kola nut, but I read up on it and decided to try it. It has a slightly earthy taste. I do notice a pick-me-up after eating only half of one. It has natural caffeine, and 3 of us tried it and we all felt energized. I think it taste better mixed in a smoothie. There are some health benefits, and it’s better for you than coffee. I recommend this in a morning smoothie to get you going.

Kolanuts with serious mold growth conditions and not fit for human consumption.

It's pretty easy to see why Kola nuts are so polarizing. The taste is bitter beyond anything else I've had before. But after a minute or two of (at times, vigorous) chewing, the taste completely changes. It reminds me a lot of how miracle fruit is. It really does taste like Coca-Cola once you've chewed long enough and you can taste the 'juice'. Just getting to that point is the hard part.These nuts aren't the freshest around, so they've got quite the hard outer layer you've gotta get through first. I didn't find any mold amongst my bag, but given the state of these, I wouldn't be surprised if other bags have reached that point. This small bag costing about 30 bucks is already a bit hard of a pill to swallow. But when you realize that what you're getting is far from fresh, it's hard to justify the price.However, I find Kola nuts more effective than anything else at delivering caffeine. It could be the caffeine content itself, or the way that Kola nuts deliver caffeine is just much more direct than other sources. Or it could be both. The caffeine boost I feel from these nuts is on par with that of caffeine pills and caffeine gums. It almost makes the bitter beginning taste and price worth it for me. Almost.

The nuts look nothing like the photo on the bag. Instead of being pink, they are a brown color. When you cut them in half they are not consistent in color or texture. We tried a bit of both the browned one and the white one and the white was softer but still crunchy, and very bitter and unpleasant. The brown was really bad tasting and was spit out immediately.Towards the bottom of the bag there were some that seemed to have mold on them, but not being sure if that was a normal look for them it is hard to be sure.
