Apologia. Florida. De Deo Socratis (Loeb Classical Library 534)

Lesser-known works of Apuleius...
A great translation of lesser-known works of Apuleius. Christopher P. Jones and the Loeb Classical Library have done an amazing job of passing on and preserving the brilliant thoughts of a Roman citizen who lived and died about 1900 years ago. In the Apologia, he defends himself against the accusation that he used magic to enchant, bewitch, and swindle the wealthy Pudentilla when he married her. Interesting stuff. Also, this volume contains Apuleius's De Deo Socratis, and his other work called Florida, a garland of literary flowers. Quite interesting reading, and a quick way to bring the ancient world back to life for a modern audience.
