Big Impact for a Small Upgrade
This clever little device made a surprisingly noticeable improvement in my poolโs surface cleanliness. Itโs a simple upgrade, but one I now consider essential. ๐ช๏ธ Turbocharges Surface Debris Removal The Cyclone creates a vortex that pulls in leaves, bugs, and other floating debris faster and more efficiently, as shown in the "before and after" comparison on page 3. Within just a few hours of installing it, I noticed a clear differenceโthe pool surface was cleaner with less effort from my side. ๐ ๏ธ Quick Installation, No Tools Required It couldnโt have been easier to install. You just set it on top of your skimmer basket (basket not included), and it immediately begins improving the water flow pattern. As shown on page 3, you simply measure the outer diameter of your basket to pick the correct 6", 7", or 8" version. ๐ Works at Any Water Level The 8โ funnel design works regardless of pool water level fluctuations, which is a huge plus during hot weeks or rainy days when levels rise and fall unpredictably . It helps maintain suction power and surface skimming even when conditions change. ๐ง No Moving Parts, All Results There are no complicated mechanisms to deal withโjust a smart shape that boosts performance. No clogging, no maintenance. It even helped relieve pressure on my pool pump by improving surface water intake speed. โ Pros: Dramatically improves surface debris removal Simple drop-in installationโno tools needed Works with various pool water levels Durable, single-piece molded plastic โ Cons: You need to measure your basket carefully before ordering Skimmer basket not included Overall: The Skimmie Cyclone is one of those smart, low-cost upgrades that makes a visible difference. Great for reducing manual skimming and keeping your pool looking fresh with less daily work.

Working whirlpool (it sucks in a good way)
I'm always looking for something to improve the function of my skimmer. I've had a venturi device that worked pretty well, but was awkward and never fit right, plus it made it hard to empty the basket. I ordered this by size, my basket is 8"ish, so I thought I'd take my chances. My basket has two flat surfaces to fit into the well, and the skimmer did not. So I couldn't really attach it to the basket. But it worked fine just sitting atop the basket, with no attachment. You can use it two ways, depending on the level of the water. It seemed to work better pointing up than down. So I raised the level of the water and it's fine, I just have to make sure to maintain that level. It works by creating a vortex and directing the debris into the basket. My pump is variable speed, and it works much better on the higher speed than the lower one. I also directed the bulk of the water flow to the skimmer, as opposed to the sweeper/bottom drain. But overall, I'm happy with it. It might float off the basket when the pump is off, but seems to reset itself once the pump is running. It's quality plastic, not flimsy. It does come with zip ties to connect it to the basket if you choose, but I haven't done that yet. Easy to empty the basket, just lift it off and dump. Definitely worth the money.

Works as advertised but I have mixed feelings
This is an interesting product for sure, and it does work, but not as well as I would have hoped. Let's start with the good. When properly installed it will cause a vortex to form in your skimmer basket. This serves a couple of practical purposes. First it allows you to run your skimmer at a lower flow rate and still suck debris down into the basket. This allows me to divert more suction to my auto pool vac. Secondly, and more importantly, the vortex allows the skimmer to easily suck in the dust and light debris that floats on thr top of the water that just has a tendency to float at the top of your skimmer and not get sucked down. The product works well and accomplishes both of those goals. However, this is not without drawbacks. Most notably, it requires removal of the flap found in most skimmers, otherwise the vortex will flat out just not form, or in my case, when the product is installed upright it physically touches and interferes with the operation of the flap. This is a bit problematic because this flap is there for a reason, to effectively concentrate the skimmers suction to thr top most layer of water, to maximize the range it is able to suck in debris from the top of the pool. To you know, skim the surface. While the vortex does help contract this somewhat, the effect is that objects must get much closer to the skimmer to actually get sucked in. However, it does solve my problem of removing the fine dust particles that tend to float on thr top of the water which was the major reason I bought it. One other thing to note is that at least for my pool, I can only really make use of this product in the up right position. I'm sure that like most pool products this was probably made with larger in ground pools skimmers in mind where mine is an above ground. The result is that when this product is placed in my basket cone down, it's really difficult to get it to form a proper cyclone. The water level is either too high, but if I lower it, the cyclone will form but it then has a tendency to suck in air because the water level ends up so low in my skimmer that any waves in the pool drop the water level in the skimmer to dangerously low levels. But again, I think this has more to do with the design of my particular basket. Over all it works as advertised, but it's not the pancea I was hoping it would be. Solved one problem but caused another.

Great option for surface skimming !
This is my second purchase from this company. The first was a handheld skimmer thatโs meant for a spa, but I use it in the pool for a small debris. Both have been great values; the Skimmie is doing a fantastic job and is replacing another solution that was meant to do the same Bernoulli effect but far more money and was a two piece unit. In my case, I have removed the filter basket as it was not needed. I have a pool enclosure so large debris is not an issue. I do use a skim sock, which I found on Amazon in a 30 pack and they are great; I changed them out about every few weeks and it gets rid of all the small debris that would normally hit the filter. Kudos to the team that made this. Itโs a great product and itโs not too often that I give five stars and I havenโt previously provided a video review so hopefully that provides some context on what I think of the product.

Works, but maybe too well...
I'll just say, the cyclone works very well, but maybe too well. It generates a very strong cyclone that will suck a small child down the drain (I'm kidding). However, it also introduces a lot of air that gets sucked into the system. This puts more pressure and strain on the pump to get to purge it. The air never gets completely purged. I followed the directions and filled the pool to where the level was 3 inches above the top of the cyclone, placed it where the top of the cone was facing up and turned on the pump. Immediately air got into the system and the pump kept trying to purge it. I waited a good 15 minutes to see if it would do so but the air never completely left the system. I took out the cyclone and the system purged itself of the air. Next I placed the cyclone with the top facing down. It still generated air in the system, but also the cyclone strength was about the same level as it is without it. I had the proper size, too, but there was no way to use this where it didn't introduce air into the system. Sadly, I'll have to return it.

Improves Skimming Power โ Simple but Effective Upgrade
The Skimmie Cyclone has really improved how well my pool skimmer pulls in surface debris. The 7" funnel design helps turbocharge the water flow, making it easier to catch leaves, bugs, and other floating junk before they settle on the poolโs surface. It works great even when the water level fluctuates, which is perfect for my outdoor pool during the hot summer months. Installation was straightforward, and the product feels sturdy and well-made. I love that it fits snugly inside the skimmer basket and helps my pool look cleaner with less effort. Important Tip: Be sure to check your skimmer basket size before ordering to ensure a perfect fit! Overall, if you want an easy, effective way to boost your skimmerโs performance and improve pool surface cleaning, The Skimmie Cyclone is a great choice!

It works
Simple, cheap, and effective. My rear gate to the skimmer was broken. This was a simple solution to keep debris from floating back out.

Sort of works
It does sort of work but can't say it makes a world of difference and for optimal results you need to maintain proper water level. For me it did not fit through the opening for the skimmer basket so I had to get creative.

It actually works!? Wow
The Skimmie Cyclone - Turbo Charges Pool Skimmer Basket Water Flow - Improves Pool Surface Cleaning & Debris Removal - Pool Accessories & Pool Skimmer 7" Funnel Design Works with Any Pool Water Level This isn't a gimmick. Seems to work quite well for me. Super simple hack to make your water flow in to skimmer more efficient. Impressed. Instantly see results. See my video demonstration. I like that it's a separate piece from my skimmer basket. I can opt to use it or not , quickly. The wedge helps to permanently keep the skimmer door flap open wide to increase flow drastically. It needs to be wedged in good else the flap will get free and the wedge will float out. Overall a pretty cool product. Get your pool filtered thru quicker with this cyclone. Works !!!!! (Ps; measure your skimmer basket size before buying. 7" vs 8")

must have for any pool owner
was not sure about this item when I ordered it. OMG dose it work. in my case using weir wedge only gave some improvement. removing weir did the trick. weir blocking portion of opening. this greatly removes dirt from the top of water. even stuff I couldn't see. almost makes screaning the top of pool a thing of the past. I 100% rec. this item. and have already told all my friends who own pools they need this.

Works
So skimmers work for most surface debris except that very light debris will continue to float at the surface of the skimmer vortex and never get sucked down. This gadget increases the velocity of the vortex so more stuff gets sucked down. It can be installed in an upward or downward configuration depending on the depth of your basket or skimmer hole if you don't use a basket. There is a 7" version and a 8" version be careful to get the right one for your skimmer. When you turn off the pump the cyclone tends to float upwards displaces itself so that the next time you start the pump it doesn't land perfectly back into the basket. So some have jerry riggged the thing to attach it directly onto the basket. Anyways, it works. It's a piece of plastic I think it's not really worth this price so that's why it's 4/5 stars.
