Rain Bird 1800CAPS Spray Head Cap for 1800 Series Sprinklers

This was easy to use and it has worked out great so far.

I live in a managed amenity apartment building. After 6 service requests, they could not fix a malfunctioning Rain Bird 1800 series sprinkler head which was spraying well water all over vehicles and pedestrians walking on the sidewalk. It wasn't watering the grass at all. When they actually attempted to fix the sprinkler (half of the requests were simply deleted without action), I think they were just swapping out parts, even thought it probably would've just been cheaper to replace it with a new one (but they are the experts here, multiple attempts to repair a single sprinkler head must've been less expensive than installing a new one). After giving the management company a final warning, I ordered this cap to finally put this sprinkler head out of its misery for good without costing me much time or money. Installation was easy by following the included installation instructions. I dug around the sprinkler head and unscrewed the top, removing the internal components. It turned out that the stem of the malfunctioning sprinkler was cracked so it wasn't going to be fixed easily - I don't know what they were doing to "fix" the malfunctioning sprinkler head. Anyhow, I cleaned the threads to remove any dirt, verified the O-ring was installed, and carefully screwed on the cap. I verified no leaks after the system ran in the evening. The problem is now fixed at minimal expense (which is especially important since they won't reimburse me for the cap) and I don't have to worry about it again. Luckily, the grass in the affected area is already watered by other malfunctioning or incorrectly adjusted sprinklers in the area. It's great not having to worry about well water getting on my car anymore!

We extended out our deck, which now hangs over one of our underground sprinklers heads. This cap closes it off so that it won’t spray under the deck. The cap was delivered in just one day. It is made well, fits and seals well, and was easy to work with. it was a product that was not carried by either Ace Hardware, nor Lowe’s. We were glad to see it on Amazon. Good product.

The first time I put cap on it popped off with the water pressure. Removed the cap and the sprinkler part it screwed onto. Turns out because of some dirt on the pipe threads I had not screwed it down all the way like it felt I had done. Two things...I wiped down all the thread areas both on the cap and the sprinkler pipe it screwed into. I had pushed the gasket tight down into the cap. I brought it back up so that it circled where it should have, but not pushed down tight into the cap. Screwed it onto the pipe tightly and now it stayed and worked well with no water escaping.

Very solid heavy plastic that works perfectly. You do need to make sure that you seat the o-ring properly in the cap before screwing it on. The o-ring was loose in the package but was easy to press in place and stays where it is needed to screw on the cap.

The threads seem a little off. Was leaking the first time I installed it. Had to remove it, put plumbers tape then reinstall and no leaks. Works good

I bought 20 on these caps. 18 of them worked perfectly on Rainbird sprinklers. The other 2 leaked badly on Lawn Genie sprinklers. I have never seen this product in Lowes or Home Depot. If you use them on Rainbird they are as easy as screwing on a bottle cap. Just make sure to get the green washer tight in the cap and make sure to clean the groves on the sprinkler. Excellent product. I am very happy with it. Wish I knew about these caps years ago.

I live in a townhouse complex where we still have the original underground sprinkler system layout which has never been updated regardless that updates have been made to retaining walls on either side of our lawns and/or that the lawn edges have been graded to slope to the ground resulting in the sprinkler heads being 1.5 feet in from the outside lawn edge therefore, the outer 1.5 feet is not getting watered & the new turf they installed when slopung the lawn is dying. Although its supposed to be a condo board expense I find it a hassle to get them to agree to purchase what I specifically want so I just invested in mp rotary sprinkler heads and, then used this to cap off the sprinkler head that was no longer watering as needed. I’m happy to say that the water from the center 360 degree adjustable mp rotating sprinkler head valve that I installed waters the entire lawn.
