Aunt Molly’s Ground Cherry is a sweet, golden treasure for home gardeners. This heirloom variety produces small, husk-covered berries on bushy plants that grow up to 2 feet tall, making it a great choice for raised beds, containers, or traditional garden spaces. The berries have a tropical, pineapple-like flavor that’s perfect for snacking fresh, baking into pies, or making jams and preserves. Fruits are best harvested after they naturally drop to the ground and ripen—making them easy and fun to gather. This self-seeding annual thrives in USDA zones 5 through 9 and matures in just 70 to 80 days, providing a quick and rewarding harvest the same season you plant. To grow, start seeds indoors about six weeks before your last expected frost, then transplant outdoors once the danger of frost has passed, spacing plants 12 to 18 inches apart. Alternatively, you can direct sow seeds outdoors in spring after the soil has warmed, planting them 1/8 inch deep. Germination takes 14 to 30 days, and plants grow well in full sun or partial shade with moderate watering. These seeds are non-GMO and stored in dark, dry, and cool conditions to ensure high viability. Each seed packet includes detailed growing instructions and plant images to guide you along the way. Whether you're an experienced gardener or just starting out, Aunt Molly’s Ground Cherry is an easy and delightful addition to your edible landscape. With their sweet flavor, charming husks, and self-sowing habit, they’re sure to become a favorite in your garden year after year. Plant with confidence and enjoy the taste of summer, right from your own backyard. Seeds are for the current and following growing seasons. Growing instructions and plant Images are included on the seed envelope. Seeds are stored in environmental conditions that promote seed life (Dark/Dry/Cool). Plant with Confidence! Excellent Germination Sprouting - 100% of seeds germinated within 2 weeks.
Excellent germination - the entire packet sprouted little buds within about 2 weeks of planting. It is still in the early stages of development but appears to be thriving and I'm happy with the product! Good price and value.

Didn’t survive planting
So disappointed in these seeds. They sprouted but never transitioned from pods to dirt. Hard to call them perennial if they never grow in the first place. Shame

So far so good
Started off with six seeds in starter tray, five germinated. Broadcast several in above ground planter and numerous germinated. Ground cherries are notorious for a slow start but so far so good.
