My 1st reaction was " holy shipping it worked" and my dry hair felt so silky when other shampoo turned it into a rats nest. Love this stuff. My natural hair is bright silver, thin like clear fishing wire so if i don't dye it the scalp is clearly visible. It is also extremely dry due to medical treatments from infusions. No matter what shampoo or conditioner i used, it knotted up. This stuff made my hair comb through like silk. My hair is so dry, I only need to wash my hair once a week. After the 1st washing the roots did lighten up but it does say you can use this product once a week. Love this product. This is great for inbetween hair coloring cuz the roots dont show. It is a little messy and can leave stains but i cleaned up any stains right away or used bleach on my white sink. In the shower, i plugged up the drain so was pooled on the floor and any dye was diluted and did not stick to the shower surface. Overtone is very thick putting on and did not drip. Just be sure to cover any surfaces and clean up right away. I am definitely ordering again. To Overtone Company - DONT CHANGE THE PRODUCT!

I’m honestly so impressed with this hair color conditioner! The Strawberry Blonde shade turned out exactly how I was hoping—soft, warm, and really natural-looking without being too intense. It gave my hair a nice boost of color while still feeling super healthy and conditioned. One of my favorite things is how easy it is to use—no complicated process, and it smells great. My hair felt softer and more hydrated after using it, not dry like with traditional dyes. The color also faded nicely over time instead of looking patchy. If you’re looking for a low-commitment way to refresh your color or try something new without damage, this is definitely worth it. I’ll absolutely be using it again!

TWIGHLIGHT TITANIUM IS NOT EXTREME SILVER - IT IS A DIFFERENT PRODUCT I have used Overtone Extreme Silver for several years. LOVED the product, the color and the wonderful mint smell. Also, loved the vegan and ethical approach of the privately owned company, and the story of the founders - 2 girls in their 20s building a company out of sheer gusto and ingenuity - so I stocked up on the product to support their vision. When my supplies started to dwindle I tried to purchase more but couldn't find it online. Then, I started getting bombarded with messages and videos on social media stating it was renamed " Twighlight Titanium". (Meaning the company is clearly buying personal information). I decided to purchase 2 batches (at a notably higher price than Extreme Silver) because my supply of Extreme Silver was running short. When I received the Twighlight Titanium I still had some Extreme Silver left, so decided to use that on one side of my head then add the Twighlight Titanium on to the other side. Hey, same product, right? BIG MISTAKE. Extreme Silver is purple in the jar, smells like mint and makes my hair shiny and soft. Twighlight Titanium is dark blue in the jar, smells like moldy bread, and left my hair dull and dry. My scalp was very itchy after use. It acts like a toner, there was no color change, just dulled and dried my hair. The label is so tiny I had to get a magnifier to read the ingredients. Guess what - harsh chemicals are now included. I decided to check the company to find out why the vegan, ethical stance changed. And you guessed it- PRIVATE EQUITY took over. 2 tech bros got involved, deposed the founders and put a not-for-profit (a.k.a tax dodging) guru in as the new President. Like so many great start-ups and family owned companies running ethical, profitable businesses, Private Equity has ruined Overtone. Why pretend the products are the same? Why pretend they are vegan and chemical free? Deceptive advertising is not going to earn you repeat customers. I might have been tempted to purchase if you had been honest about discontinuing a line and advising the ingredients now include some chemicals. Saying the two are the same is such a typical Private Equity lie.

Overall, I like this product! I ordered the cherry chestnut color, and it came out a warm, red-toned brown. TLDR: I think they could benefit from more specific directions, and it would be ideal if the product came with disposable gloves, but it feels hydrating without weighing my hair down, and the color is lovely. It took a bit of trial and error to get the application right. The first time I did it, I just applied it straight onto dried hair and left it for 10 minutes as instructed. The color wasn’t very vibrant or consistent, but it still left my hair soft and shiny. The second time I tried, I split my hair into sections and focused more on even distribution. I also left it on for about 30 minutes instead of 10. This gave my hair a very shiny, rich color. I have a lot of long hair, and I was able to get 2 uses out of this container. BEWARE: this product is VERY staining. It stained my floors, towels and clothes during application, and stained my bathtub while washing it out. I was able to get most of it off my skin by scrubbing with rubbing alcohol, but I HIGHLY recommend getting gloves.

i really enjoy this product. when i first got purple done at the salon, it washed out after 2 washes and faded to an awful teal color. so i decided to buy this as a more affordable option that might last longer. it lasts about 3 weeks for me with this process: i apply it to dry hair, let it sit for 15-20mins, then rinse with warm water. i wait 36-48hrs before i wash my hair with shampoo. my bleached hair that i apply this to is in between the 2nd and 3rd hair color examples in the product listing. after a few times using this, it fades to a cool-toned ashy purple within 2 weeks (i wash my hair every other day) and i reapply every 3-4 weeks. i’ve used about 3/4 of the container so far and i plan on trying another purple tone next!

I love this brand, however this Twilight titanium didn't take at all. It shows in the samples that it will cover light brown and lighter. I have salt/pepper with light brown hair. All it did was deepen my natural silver. I will say the Midnight Teal, took amazingly. I've had the lower half of my hair in teal for a few years now and this just gave my hair new life.

The formula has changed. Unfortunately not for the better. I've been using Overtone since 2022- originally Purple For Brown, then switching to Extreme Purple to get more of a grape color, and finally Vivid Violet in the latest incarnation and product consolidation. The deep grape/midnight with slightly iridescent on grey strands color is part of my 'trademark' look as a local activist - something that people instantly recognize and remember. Within the past 6 months or so, the formula has changed - whereas it was thicker almost paste like that stuck to the hair while applying, this new stuff is thinner, more runny, and feels very different when applying. It also smells very different - gone is the distinctive mint like smell that the old stuff had. The color looks mostly okay after leaving it on for about 45 mins, then washing out, however there is now blueish-aqua color around some roots on my forehead. The color is also not holding up as well over time and when in sunlight outside, requiring me to wear head coverings a lot more often to keep it from fading prematurely. I've not had these issues prior to the formula changes. I don't know why the changes were made, but please switch back to the classic formula that has always worked well.

I have medium brown hair that had been lightened and dyed pink at a salon, which faded quickly. Purchased this product based on stylist's recommendation. It worked perfectly. Definitely refreshed the color. Overtone lasted two weeks before needing to reapply. Didn't have issues with it staining shower. We also used it on natural blonde hair just for fun. Result is MUCH different. The natural blonde hair was BARELY pink, but the hair that had been professionally lightened came out vibrant pink after each use of Overtone. The attached photos is the faded hair before use of Overtone and immediately after use.
