The 15yo Shurflo pump in my RV stopped holding pressure. I probably could have serviced the valve but decided to replace the pump since I had to take half the RV apart to get to the pump. A few notes on pump replacements in general and on this specific pump. * The Amazon product description says that you might receive one of two different model numbers, but “they are the same”. Except the amps are different per the literature. At any rate, you don’t know what you are getting until you have it in your hand and then can determine the proper circuit and fuse size. In my case I had to go up a fuse size from original pump. Wire size was fine. * The existing pump connected to the water system via barb fittings with hose clamps. I had to cut these off as they wouldn’t come off the existing fittings, the hose having become stiff. The new fittings on the new pump were slightly smaller, so they actually didn’t make a water tight seal on the high pressure side unless I really cranked down the hose clamp. * The new pump seems to operate quietly and reliably, and holds pressure over night when off. * I learned through this process that most of the pump noise actually comes from the waterline on the high pressure side pulsing and flexing with the pump and whacking into the floor or interior parting in the compartment it is in. The solution is not to clamp it down but to let it flex and I put foam pipe insulation around it to deaden the sound and absorb the hits. Made a huge difference in noise. No complaints about the new pump, seems solid, weighs more than the original, performs as expected. The included fittings were what was needed (though 90 degree would have been helpful).

The folks at this company (Oceanside RV Supply) went out of their way to treat me as as not just a customer, but a PERSON, with respect! A no-nonsense company that does the right thing. I only write reviews when I receive poor service, or good/great service. I know, I should review all my products and will begin to! The last thing I want to do after work is to get back on a computer, but in this case, I feel compelled to share my review. I used a Shurflow 12 V pump for years, and it was noisy from the start. I know that I installed it correctly because I am mechanically inclined, I read directions well, and enjoy learning and take what I do seriously and do not cut corners. Since it was the first water pump I installed, I did not have anything to compare it to in terms of noise and just figured that pumps are just noisy. I tried different methods to try to quiet the noise and vibration, which included securing all water lines. My pump froze a few times a year or two after installation, continued to work the same, but after the last freeze of approximately minus 10 degrees Fahrenheit, the Shurflow pump would kick on and off quickly for about a second, every minute or so. I thought that there may have been a leak in the line, but this was not the case. I researched changing the position of the adjuster screws and studied the effects. I could not solve the problem! I searched out a pump that is advertised to be more likely to withstand freezing, which I assume means the internal parts freezing along with the fittings. This is the main reason I bought this 12 volt Flow Max pump! Well, it is pleasantly quieter, by far than my old Shurflow pump. It was easy to remove my old pump, which just required disconnecting the red and black wires, removing the screws that secured it to it's base, and removing the inflow and outflow water lines. The new Flow Max pump fit right in it's place. I guess it's a universal fitting, which makes sense to me! A lot of the installation is basic plumbing and electrical, but take your time, and thread the fittings slowly and with precision. Remember to add an inline fuse. The water pressure is good, and flow is steady. There is a little vibration in the line when the flow rate is much less than max, which is when I use a water filter, but the noise from vibration is FAR less than with the Shurflow unit I used. And with the Shurflow, I had a lot of vibration in the line even when my faucet was turned up. I've only been using the new pump for about a week now, and expect it to continue performing well. I will post again if things change. I will try to get a photo attached in the near future.

Pump performed better than original pump. It is really quiet and has plenty of pressure. Great replacement pump. However, I have had to replace twice because after a few months, water makes its way to the pressure switch on end of pump. Had two pumps do that and both where seeping water out of the pressure switch. You can even hear the electricity shorting out internally. Also, I seen customer on this site complain about special threads on inlet and outlet. Totally Wrong. It is standard thread used in most RV. So that statement is incorrect!

Had to replace the pump under the bed for the water in my RV and the first thing I noticed is that even standing next to the bed I could barely hear it and the last one hell you could hear go on and on outside if you were paying attention the insulation was lickity split and I really appreciate it that in line filter that they have on the inlet side oh the help protect the the pump etc I can't give you any input on how long it'll last but the last one I had was 20 years old and it still works it's just that the o-ring is leaking in the head pump head anyway I hope this helps for the money it came so much quicker than they they estimated I wasn't supposed to get it until after Christmas and I got it five days ago so yeah thank you very much for reading this and I hope it helps

My 2021 camper came with a Shurflow 4008 pump. It worked pretty good, but was sometimes prone to short-cycling, even with no water flowing. I debated about adding an accumulator tank, but decided to go "whole hog" by purchasing this Lippert pump, and also a small accumulator tank. Installation was very easy; but right from the start, I could tell that something was seriously wrong with the pump. It started and cycled fine, but the motor soon got "too hot to touch" with only moderate, normal use. You could even smell it! With continued use, the internal thermal breaker stopped the pump for several minutes before resetting. The stated short duty cycle is no joke! Also, I found that the pump shutoff pressure was only 36 psi -- not the advertised 50 psi. I tried adjusting the pressure with the provided screw on the pressure switch, but could not achieve a pressure higher than 38 psi. I re-installed the original Shurflow pump, and it now operates fine with a shutoff at 55 psi. Apparently, the accumulator tank was the needed solution. The Lippert pump is being returned!

Very quiet pump at a great price. I can barely hear this running. 100x quieter than the pump that was in the RV. Use reinforced nylon tubing for connecting to the pump to eliminate the RV pex tubing vibration.

I had a working pump in the RV that worked. It worked pretty good, or so I thought. I was reading all the reviews and everyone indicated there was a performance gain with this new pump, and they also said it was so quiet. I thought, "yea, I wonder what quiet really means". But I decided to order the pump as I noticed it cam with a neat little pre-filter and thought that would be a good addition anyways. I did not expect any massive gains with this upgrade. I did pre-wire better supply while waiting for this order. So when I did get the new pump in, it was a 5 minute install. Fired it up, and .... HOLY CRAP. This thing pumps so quick, there are no pulses in the water, and it SOOOO quiet compared to my last pump. Under a cushion bench, I can barely hear the thing. Way better than a high pitch whine/pulse sound grinding away. This pump is only 10 % of my original noise from the other pump. OK, so, now I am super glad that I did upgrade. The RV toilet flushes way better. I think failures on RV toilets are due to lack of water flow, as they cant properly keep the valves clean. So having this new pump really will make a difference. Not knowing about longevity is a concern now, as I do hope I get years out of this pump. Its just too awesome. I'd buy another one in a heart beat.

I powered this 12V pump using an old computer ATX power supply and it worked!!! I connected the pump to my rain barrel and I found no difference on water pressure compared to my garden hose on a regular household faucet, it is so strong. I tested the water pressure, see photo? It has 50 PSI, amazing! Oh yes, it automatically stops at 50 PSI and the pump kicked in when I started to water my plants. The pump has absolutely solid built and it's extremely quiet. I mounted it on the wall in the garage, you don't have to put the pump lower than your water source because according to the manual, it has 6 feet vertical prime. The only complain I had was the connector, it supposed to be PEX. However I had hard time fitting it on my existing 1/2" PEX tube. I compare to the brass PEX connectors I have, it seems the one comes with the pump is slightly bigger. Maybe even PEX has different standard, I don't know. Anyways, I used adjustable steel clamp on rubber hose to solve the problem, no big deal. Overall, you pay for what you get. The price is high, but it performs way beyond my expectation. Love it.

No problem using pump, but I needed to source and install the recommended 15 amp fuse, which should have been supplied. Also, beware, the pump has a short duty cycle of just 5 minutes/10 minutes off.
