Silverline Table Vice with Swivel Base 50 mm (632607)

After my own similar vice sheared off I needed another similar one, one day when I have a workshop I'll buy the big heavy duty ones, but for now this is great for clipping to a small bench as required. so far so good.

I brought a used like new item, nice idea and seems good for what I want. But just clamping it to the table the swivel base fell off, due to the split pin that holds the lever being too long and all bent and fell out. Also the split pin on the screw for the jaws (see pic) also bent and too long. Very poor perhaps it has been reconditioned as it came in original packaging and looked as new. Very poor workmanship. I have had to change both split pins to repair it. I bought it for £9.95 but not happy. How long it will last? Anyones guess. Silverline not normaly that bad.

I'm no superhuman, but within a couple of days of light use I managed to completely snap the unit in half just by tightening it up on a steel rod. Nice concept and versatile unit but as with most Silverline equipment, seems to be poor quality.

Does what it says on the box. Sturdy, easy to operate.

This item was received about 2 weeks ago. WAS USED FOR THE FIRST TIME TODAY ( 12/06/20) AND PROMPTLY BROKE. That's not very good is it? I cannot rate this item obviously. Please refund my money. I would not want a replacement for obvious reasons.

This is ideal for doing small jobs.

Oh dear! Really liked this little vice for holding small pieces of mild steel while I used a hacksaw to cut them to size. Used it about one a fortnight for four to five cuts each time. This morning it didn’t tighten up, it had quietly failed. (See photo). I thought it had been great value for money - until this morning.
