My parrot was afraid of it. Here is the scoop: The opening is NOT on the top, which is a good feature. This type is better than clam-shell-types of bard or cat carriers; (the reason is overheating & poor air flow). This product is well made because of the combination of plastic to “catch” wet debris but mesh to breathe. It has two levels of perch placement for various-size avians from a parakeet to a blue crown conure. A larger bird like an Amazon, cockatoo would benefit from the larger sized carrier. This item has a handle for carrying by hand. The backpack design is slightly cumbersome for me but I am petite & have back & neck issues. Ok, another great feature is the side flaps. They may be raised or lowered. They do have a snap but we usually use a small chip clip, or two, to hold them open in the car. This is a GREAT product, with amazing features. I just wish my conure was not neo-phobic (afraid of new things). He tends to like an old travel cage for transport to the vet. This is his everyday cage since he is disabled. I have included some recommendations in my video that are modifiable options for this parrot carrier. Looking at it, the perch is probably too big for a finch/parakeet since it is 2/3 to 3/4 inch. Please forgive. This is my first attempt at reviewing. Highly recommended for Conures, mini macaw or similar. Buy larger version for cockatoo & will NOT work for standard macaw, due to the room needed for that ginormous tail. Enjoy for your feather birdies

Really nice and has lasted a little bit longer than the other backpacks. Its hard to find one that last more than 1 trip if you have a bird that destroys everything. However this has actually lasted a while. I even put it in the washing machine and it is still perfect. It is also big and you may be able to fit a smaller macaw. I had an African gray in it and a baby macaw. I highly recommend this product.

It’s a perfect carrier for my sun conures. They don’t like going in but got used to it. I like that I can cover the window when we are driving so it keeps anxiety down.

Was to small for a cockatoo.. but it's definitely nice and sturdy. It's really only appropriate size for a ring neck or similar

Its an ok bag but if your bird destroys everything in sight get the 1 with a metal mesh on the sides

I bought the large size and its perfect for my sun conure. She has plenty of space for her wings and her tail, she can climb or look out the mesh sides, the food cups are easy for her to use, and the perch can be set at two different heights. The carrier is also lightweight and easy to assemble. My one complaint is that the metal tray meant to catch bird droppings is too small for the bottom. I ended up just lining it with newspapers, which works fine.

I purchase 2 from the same company -different sizes for my African grey and green cheek Conure for their vet appointments on the same day. The video shows them being the exact same size not different as described. The grey one ( the subject of this review) is well made and sturdy. Zippers work great and it was easy to assemble. I’m returning the other one.

My parrot chewed through the plastic the first time I used it. It's now garbage. Don't waste your money.

the side elastic that's supposed to hold the side flap is sewn into the bag. its an annoying defect. i want to exchange the bag but they raised the price and seller cant be contacted.
