This bowl, with a nice heft to it sounds great and I enjoy using it to start my day off with an air of sound, if you will. I try for at least ten minutes non stop, swirling and meditating. Just move your wrist, try to position your hand completely still over the top holding velvet in your hand and using wooden part to lightly swirl the outside bowl's side, just where it starts forming at the top.

The bowl is of good weight and I love the tree of life design in the bowl. It has a lovely sing to it and is easy to use. I bought it as a gift for my husband and he loved it too!

I purchased the small tree of life bowl for an alms replica and not a 'singing bowl'. It's beautifully etched and very sturdy, but if you're buying it as a so called 'singing bowl' it's ring lasts only a few seconds where as most others ring for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Just for information purposes Tibetans didn't and don't use these bowls for meditation they use(ed) them for alms. Tibetan's use a Meinl Bell for meditation which has a beautiful long lasting ring and is sold in some online music stores and on Amazon. If you're using this bowl for a 'singing bowl' just be advised you're following a western new age concept and not following Tibetan Buddhist practice. Secondly since it's supposedly coming out of Tibet which is controlled by communist China and being shipped out of China, which is clearly stated on the box, the conditions and treatment of the labor being used to make these bowls should be considered. I'm definitely rethinking my purchasing habits.

This Tibetan singing bowl is amazing. If you are a beginner then 4.8in size is perfect. It's much easier to play than smaller size and the quality is great. If you hold it in your hand then you can feel the vibration in the hand. It will also make a great gift for the price
