Robocop Trilogy [DVD] [1987] [2014]

Can you fly, Bobby? An excellent transfer for the original film
I finally got around to buying this to replace my trusty old Criterion DVD that I've watched many many times, and I'm glad I did - the first film is a true classic and the transfer does it justice, it looks and sounds wonderful and there's some great extras on there too, some of which I've seen before but others are new to me.It's diminishing returns for the 2nd and 3rd films in the series, which are presented here a bare-bones disks with adequate transfers and only trailers as special features (if you are a fan then far better remastered releases are available elsewhere) - I wasn't too upset about this as I am unlikely to watch them too many times. However maybe I've mellowed with age as when I did watch them in this set I enjoyed them a lot more than I remembered - even Robocop 3, which certainly isn't a great film, still had it's moments and wasn't as catastrophically bad as I remembered it being. It's still a million miles from the greatness of the first one though. I wasn't concerned about the lack of extras for the sequels - I'm sure the wonderful looking forthcoming documentary Robodoc will more than cover all my making-of needs anyway. In conclusion then even if you are only interested in the first film this is still a bit of a bargain for the price - a cracking transfer means it's never looked better and there's loads of special features to keep you busy, plus you get the 2 sequels chucked in as a (sort-of) bonus.

Dead or Alive Your Coming With Me
The first release of the Robocop trilogy on Blu-Ray was poorly received mainly due to the poor transfer of the first film. I didn't even bother watching the 2nd and 3rd because I knew I was never going to keep it if the first film wasn't up to scratch. Waiting years down the line they finally announced a remastered Director's Cut of Robocop with all the trimmings displayed in the extras department. They released it as a single film and also a newly put together trilogy set. I really like Robocop 2 as bonkers at it is so decided to get the three film set.First off the new transfer of Robocop is spot on. I doubt we we will ever see it any better, be good to see if 4K can add anything but I was more than satisfied and the extras were spot on with a notable men to a great cast and crew Q&A from 2012.What surprised me how good the transfer of the sequel was. I am aware there are sadists out there who love Robocop 3, so much so Scream Factory released a collector's edition of it but I try stay away from it for health purposes. For the price it is, definitely pick this up. It has good transfers and a load of extras of the first film which is what we all want, its a no brainer, buy it now.

Great, Good & terrible (in that order)
I went and bought this and Robocop (first film) on it's own as the description for the trilogy didn't mention that it had special features on Robocop (1) so I was a little miffed to find when they arrived they were the same edition of the film. I do wish more attention to special features was given in the descriptions. As its just ridiculous. It's like advertising a car without giving an engine size. I have seen these films and the first film is brilliant the second was the first Robocop film I saw so holds a kind of nostalgic memory for me. Even though I know it's not as good as the first and the third film is total & utter pants. Why they took ultra violent adult movies & turned the 3rd film into a teen or kid friendly movie is just beyond me. It's called Robocop 3 so it is a second sequel, So Any child watching this film may then want to see the the first two films only they are not suitable in anyway for them to watch. Also any adult who enjoyed the first two fims is alienated as it's just a whimsical piece of plop that has nothing to offer from the first films. It of course is all about money & the more bums on seats you can get the more money you make. but I wishbthe movie makers had some balls & would just make movies for adults.

Robocop all 3 films.
1st robocop film is always going to be the best ,yes there is extras on this disk ,this is the theatrical version only on here ,the most interesting extra i like is ‘flesh & steel’ ,the making of robocop ,this is 35mins 55 seconds long ,there are other extras on the 1st disk ,but the other 2 film's only have trailers as extras ,the following 2nd & 3rd film’s to me are always great to watch anytime ,all play & sound great & are also a great transfer to Blu-ray.

Robocop Blu Ray Trilogy
First movie is still great but the other not so much. Also doesn't feel like a blu ray transfer just a typical dvd print. So doesn't look they have tried much here. Quick money grab.

A decent "box" set!
It's not really a "box" set. It's a normal sized blue-ray case. One case with all three movies in it.Each movie is on a separate disc.I'm "reviewing" and uploading pictures of every single box set I've purchased so other people don't have to get disappointed or wonder how each set looks like.

Enjoyable
Loads of shooting and shouting, but beneath it all, there’s an interesting premise about law and order, violence and the role of government in using robots for control purposes. Be interesting to see what the worlds like 100 years hence: robotic police seem entirely plausible.Three films in this set, I bought used for buttons, so excellent value and entertains enough to watch more than once. Great value set.
