Perfect poles
This are the perfect poles if you need to travel, they are light, and can fold to a compact size to fit a carry-on size bag just remember to check-in the bag, otherwise it won't pass security . Use them last year to hike in the grand canyon... And worked perfect.. I did south rim to north rim in one day ... And they help me a lot... Light enough to use them for hours . And when you don't need them, just fold them

great trek poles
I wanted trek poles for backpacking, since I have bad knees I wanted to treat them right. Took these on a 4-day Appalachian Trail section hike in NY/NJ, and on some very easy day hikes, and so far love them! To address my biggest concerns I had before buying these, in case anyone shares similar concerns:1) that there wouldn't be enough height adjustment to change from going uphill to downhill: turns out I set them up and then never changed the height anyway. For reference I'm 5'2". Also they do have quite a significant adjustment in height, would have been plenty had I been pickier.2) the z-fold thing is weird: turns out, works great and is very nice for packing them down3) they wouldn't be sturdy enough to support me, as I knew I'd want to be able to put my entire weight on them going downhill (155 pounds + 40 pound pack): they are definitely sturdy, could put my full weight on them regularly and feel very confident. Saved me from many a slip or fall too!4) some people said the grips weren't comfortable or chaffed their hands. I can see this being true for people with larger hands. However, having relatively small hands (glove size S), I adjusted the loops to be on the larger end of the adjustment but not quite as big as they got, and they were perfect. No chaffing after 3 days in 90 degree weather and using the straps for support extensively. The straps really did help out, and never bothered me at all.Last comment, I forgot to change to the carbide tips before I went and was initially very mad at myself (didn't have pliers to change them once I was hiking), thinking the rubber ones would wear down on a several-day trip on the rocks. They were perfectly fine though, no sign of wear, despite being used on rocks, ridges, in water, etc. the whole time. Benefit of the rubber is that I imagine they don't slip as much on the rocks too, though I haven't had the chance to try out the carbide tips.Overall, I love these poles and am extremely happy i got them. I've never used other ones, but I have no complaints about these at all. I don't think I could have made it as far in my trip as I did without them, with my bad knees. They really made a difficult trip much more pleasant.

Inner cord loses electricity
The hand straps are wonderful, the pole gripe is soft. They are solid and reliable during long hikes. However, over time the plastic inner cord became hardened and brittle, only with great difficulty would the poles collapse into three pieces. I resorted to storing them loose and un-collapsed.

Three Stars
Work well on hard surfaces, but separate if the groound is "sticky"

Love These
I have found these to be very effective when doing mountain trail running. They really help on the uphills, and especially help on the downhills. The height adjustment feature is nice, allowing you to change lengths to fit various applications. The Flicklock adjustment does add a couple ounces, but it's worth it. I'm 5'11, and find that 125cm fits me the best, so the 120-140 set is what I have. I have used these to ascend/descend Pikes Peak in Colorado, and also Harney Peak in South Dakota. The rubber baskets have taken a bit of a beating from just those two hikes from all the rocks, but they are replaceable if they break. Overall, these are high quality poles and I have no regrets. I did find that using the poles with bare hands started to give me a small blister in the webbing between my thumb and forefingers, so found that using fingerless gloves helped provide a good buffer.

Great Buy. Love Them
These poles are amazing. I had been looking at z-poles for a long time. They sound great on paper. But I was a little worried about their strength considering the weight. But once they are straightened, they feel just as sturdy as any other pole that I've used only a lot lighter. The extra length is also greatly appreciated. I bought them also hoping to share with my partner who is 5 inches taller than me. I use one pole with the 120 cm length and he uses one that extends up to 140 cm. The only complaint I have is that the instructions are not very well designed. I was struggling to figure out what the pictures were trying to show. But once I figured everything out, we had a great experience using them on our recent hiking trip to the Grand Teton National Park. I'm so glad I finally decided to give them a chance. They did not disappoint.

Perfect Trekking Pole!
Purchased these poles after reading that they received Backpacker magazine's editor's choice. The are an extremely light aluminum pole and fold down to the shortest I've ever seen as compared to telescoping poles, which is a huge plus when short on pack space. The mesh carry bag is also helpful to keep them together. The thumb lock is not too tight and easy to flip to adjust the pole height. I've had no issues with any slipping after engaging the lock. I have large hands and the grips themselves are very comfortable. They Build quality is solid and at Amazon's price, it's worth every penny.Extending and locking the poles does take some getting used to. However after a few practice runs i'm having no issues quickly deploying these. I've gotten a lot of buddies asking me about these once they seem them on the trail because the design is very unique. You really can't go wrong with these poles!

Folding Poles
I love these poles, fold up easily. They are lightweight . Because they are so light they seem best for light or moderate hiking. They mad be too light for heavy duty hiking . I have used them for moderate hiking and really enjoyed having them.

Ausgezeichnet!!
