New Balance Women's 442 V1 Sneaker

I was looking for a narrow, comfortable shoe that I could wear instead of tennis shoes while recovering from a tendon injury. I've been injured for almost four months and am so sick of wearing my Asics every single day. They aren't the most supportive shoes, but I thought with a good insole, they would work and would look so much better than my Asics. The insoles are removable which is a plus.I really wanted these to work and ordered several sizes but I'm unfortunately between sizes in this style. I've never worn New Balance shoes and was unsure if I should buy my normal shoe size or my athletic shoe size. I wear a 6 1/2 shoe, but I wear a size 7 in athletic shoes -- Asics, Nike. Some of the reviews recommended sizing up, so at first I purchased a 7 and 7 1/2. The 7 was a little big. I probably could have made them work with a thicker insole, but I needed a supportive shoe that fit! So, I then ordered a 6 1/2 which was just a little too small. So, I agree with reviewers that they run small in your TRUE shoe size.I ended up getting a pair of Skechers slip ons -- they are SO comfortable and look nice with work pants, dresses, jeans and work out wear. I liked them so much, I ordered them in a couple of more colors. If interested, they are the Skechers Relaxed Fit Breathe Easy Big Bucks Slip-On Sneaker and fit true to your normal shoe size.

These have always been my favorite shoes - well for one I wear a size 12 sometimes 13 and they are so hard to find unless you want to wear men's shoes - but I am a girl - and a girlie girl at that. It is such a shame that New Balance did away with this style, it is perfect for the lady with larger feet, it is a slim almost narrow like looking (but doesn't feel narrow at all) and it makes my feet look smaller than these bulky shoes that they have everywhere these days! If I wanted bulky shoes I would buy work boots or Doc Martins! Anyway - I love them (bought 4 pair since they aren't available anymore) only issue I have is they were only available in my size in white and I know at one time the black and pink, the grey, and the purplish ones were available in my size,. I'll still be able to have tennis shoes for working out or whatever and They are certainly comfortable. And I will have time to search for another style shoes or brand shoe that comes in my size and is up to my standards - otherwise I'll just wear flip-flops year round. Ha-ha

I take one star off because like most shoes, they aren't true to size. I am a size 9, I took out a ruler and measured my feet myself I'm a true 9 but in shoes I typically wear a 7.5-8.5. So I ordered the 9 it was too big, 8 will fit snug and an 8.5 a bit roomy. I guess that goes for all sizes, you may want to order a half size down.Other than that, I really like these shoes. They're comfy and the design is simple and I think they look really nice. I like the shape of the shoe and I don't understand the other reviewers who said these are awful quality shoes or that they're not the same as older versions of 442. I had a pair of white and pink 442's about 4 years ago and these are just as good in quality. I think at 40 bucks they're worth every penny, I would recommend these shoes.

Bright, light-weight & stylish. Just a very cute shoe! Excellent value for the price. These are not "running" shoes or "work" shoes, but just a great pair of casual shoes. Although, I DID borrow from my daughter a few times to wear to work, was on my feet all day, and they were just fine...SO light! But, I can imagine if one were to wear them for extended periods every day, they would not last too terribly long due to mediocre (not extensive) support. They are durable and so easy to clean. I bought them a couple of yrs ago and I would definitely buy again, knowing I'm getting what I'm paying for...and we love the colors they come in! Ordered her normal 7.5 size and a little snug at first, but broke in perfectly in no time. One thing to note: The width of the sole is narrower than most shoes, but dd got used to them. Again, these are just a cute pair of shoes to wear around here & there.

I purchase these shoes as an repeat buyer [usually in the suede material] and typically wears size 8M. By the time I read some of the reviewers remarks, I was convinced that I needed to go a size up. Well, that was a BIG mistake. All of my shoes accept for pointy-toe & thongs are a size 8M and in tennis shoes I usually go down to 7.5. Well, fortunately for me, when I requested to make an exchange to my normal size from an 8.5, Amazon was amazing - exchanged the shoe right away and I received the shoe before I even had a chance to send the bigger size back. The shoe fits soft and comfortable and I've learned to stick with what I know...and that's my shoe size.

I have worn these shoes for years. My pair was wearing out and I found Amazon had them. I love these shoes. I have very high arches...top and bottom of my foot. Most shoes are difficult for me to break in other than high heels. My foot seems to be made for high heels of which I hate to wear because I'm a tennis shoe kind of gal. Most tennis shoes look like boats on my feet and I hate that. These shoes are very stream lined and allow my foot to look slimmer and more feminine. I wear a size 8.5 medium. They seem true to size in length and width for my foot. I have no idea if the arch support is there or not. My arch is so high I never feel one way or the other if the support is there. It can be difficult to find quality nonleather shoes, but New Balance makes several styles. These are light as air and are comfortable. However, I am a nurse who works 12 hour shifts on hard surfaces with much time spent on my feet, and will admit that by the end of the day my feet ache after wearing these. There is no arch support and the shoe does not hold the foot in place as my other New Balance shoes have (New Balance 811 is my favorite). I love the modern look of these shoes. They are a great shoe for the price, and would be a great shoe for people who don't spend long hours on their feet. But if comfort and support are your first priority, I recommend New Balance 811 walking shoes.
