[Taro's Origami Studio] Standard 6 Inch One Sided 23 Colors 65 Sheets Square Easy Fold Premium Japanese Paper for Beginner (Gold and Silver Included)

Quite a nice collection of colors on 15 cm (exactly 15 cm, not 6 in) paper. I've got quite a few packs and this paper is the thinnest so far, but quite nice to fold with and the thinness makes folding complicated models much easier.

This is perfect origami paper. It is white on the flip side, which my daughter wanted. It is thin but strong.

I really want to like this paper, but I’m finding it difficult to work with, and it’s frustrating. I should mention for context that I’m new to origami and trying some intermediate models. I tend to skip the simple ones as I find them too easy.This is a very sturdy paper, thin, and a bit slick. The paper isn’t soft like others I’ve tried...it’s very crisp and makes crinkly noises when you run your fingers over a finished model. These properties can make it a dream to fold, but also works against me.If you make a crease, it’s nice and sharp and holds. However, when you try to reverse that crease, you essentially have to crease again. Unlike other paper I’ve used, this paper doesn’t weaken enough when creasing that a reversed crease easily follows the original crease. So I find myself wrestling with the paper, and if you wrestle with this paper, it crumples.For simpler models that I’m familiar with, like the traditional crane, I get awesome results. For models with more folds and reverse folds, especially complex ones with which I’m not familiar, I can’t figure out some of the steps, because the prior creases don’t guide you. If you don’t know exactly what you are doing, this paper is no help at all, and you end up with a crumpled mess.Of course, that means you don’t have to crumple it before throwing it at the garbage can, so I suppose that’s an advantage!All of that said, I think this is a high quality paper, and that my newness to origami may be driving my impression of it. I suspect that if I keep learning on paper I find easier that I will return to this paper when I have more experience and love it.I learned with my watercolor painting that paper selection has a huge impact on the art and is as much an artistic choice as what paints and brushes you use, and what techniques you apply. So it is as I explore origami and try out different papers. You may love this paper, or not like it so much, depending on your needs. If you aren’t sure, I’d buy a smaller pack before leaping into a gazillion sheets so you know if it meets your particular preferences.

The paper is origami paper, not cut up construction paper like some of the other options on amazon. There's a lot of different colors (I got the full 500 pack) but do be warned gold and silver foil are only 1 piece each (definitely misleading, should clarify that, but Im not bothered much. I read the reviews before buying). Besides that, the paper seems to be pretty good, it seems to be cut well, and I can only come up with two minor complaints. First being that the colors aren't organized. It seems like there were 3 different sections put together, and each section had a repeating pattern of several colors. So you have to flip through and dig for the color you want. That doesn't detract from the quality though. The package also doesn't have much rigidity, so they came slightly curved because of shipping. They didn't the paper in a box, it was in an amazon bag. Now, the paper may come slightly curved, but its definitely not going to be ruined my moisture because they double cellophaned the paper, which is massively appreciated.Again, minor complaints, I just got back into origami for the first time in years and this paper works wonders. I love having all the different color options for different designs, I love the fact that this is actual origami paper, not dual sided cut up construction paper (because some designs dont work with dual sided), and I think you get this for a reasonable price. More likely than not I'm going to rebuy this if its still up whenever I finally run out of this pack.

Only criticism was fewer sheets of some colors and foils.

This is great paper! The colors are pleasing with a range of light and dark hues. My one complaint (hence, the four stars rather than five) is that, though there are "23 colors," I found only 1 sheet each of the gold and silver. Better to advertise that accordingly, not as one of the "23 colors." The paper is a nice weight, not flimsy, but thin like I would expect for origami paper. I consider myself a novice at origami and haven't done any in years. However, I experimented with this paper and found it easy to fold and use. It is smooth, but not overly glossy like some paper; it is just right! I would also note this paper was well-packaged (though not over-packaged) with an inner- and outer-layer of smooth, durable plastic. Since the box from the shipping company arrived late and sat on our doorstep in the damp, humid air, this packaging helped keep the paper from being damaged. If you are careful in opening it, the inner layer can be re-closed to keep your paper supply together. This was a great purchase for me and I will definitely buy from this company again!

The package arrived torn open! I now unfortunately read a few other reviews of people who had the same thing. I obviously not going to count the pages and see if anything is missing and I don't have time to return it (It's part of a Christmas present!)- I don't recommend this product to anyone!!
