The Future's Here!
I tried loads of ways to store my pen: in my pocket, in my mouth, behind my ear, perched precariously on the end of my nose, but dang-it, nothing seemed to work until one day a friend said "Hey chum, have you tried the Leuchtturm 1917 Pen Loop?". I immediately took the pen off my nose and said "No, I haven't" and now I can say proudly that my pen sits snugly in the Leuchtturm 1917 Pen Loop.Unfortunately the Leuchtturm 1917 Pen Loop doesn't come with instructions about where to put the loop once the pen's in it, so I've stuck it to my ear. Works a treat (mostly).

("thin") Pen loop - NOT* Fountain Pen loop (*see comment review)
The idea and the purpose of these Pen Loops is great. I use various notebooks at the same time and always have pens flying around. In fact, there aren't many decent notebooks out there that actually allow you to attach a pen to it and this is quite an inexpensive way to convert any notebook into a notebook + pen carrier. As I mentioned, I use several notebooks so I bought 2 of these to try out.At first glance the presentation is very good and represents exactly what the purpose of the item is (the pictures on the Amazon offer say it all). The instructions if required come in German, English and French. And because they can there's a mention of how detailed Leuchtturm's notebooks and planners are - in case you're thinking of buying one.So far so good...but this is where I think they might have to improve the product or come up with a 2nd version of the loop - rather than a pen loop - a Fountain Pen Loop.As far as I'm aware Leuchtturm have marketed themselves as been fountain pen friendly and all that...so why would they come up with a product that isn't fountain pen friendly??I want to stress out, the product is good, sturdy, well built...but from my point of view, at the moment only suitable for thin pens. If you're looking to use this with fountain pens, make sure it's either a thin FP or be prepared to spend a fair bit of time until you manage fit your pen into the loop. Needless to say of course that once you fit it in, it will stay their. You could probably shake it around all you want, your FP will probably not even move - word of advice though: if you try this, try it first with an un-inked pen - just saying.I have attached some pictures of me fitting in my Lamy Safari Special Edition 2018 - and I can assure you that I managed it but not without difficulty. For the price it has however (£2.50) I'll keep using it (well, it's already adhered to the notebook), but it's a shame as unfortunately I won't be able to use it with other bigger fountain pens I have.I still need to think about what I'll do with the 2nd unit I have...Update: 14/06/2018So, I've been using this for over a month know and it's still attached to my notebook and I'm still using my Lamy Safari with it. I was initially a bit disappointed, but truth be told, the pen loop doesn't feel as stiff as it did at the very beginning but it still holds the pen firmly. I guess also Lamy isn't the easiest of pens to use with a pen loop, as the bottom on the pen is actually squared. If you have a large pen but with a rounded or pointy edge then definitely it will be easier to use. So for anyone thinking about buying this, I would probably say just consider the shape of your pen as will make it easier or more difficult to use but eventually the loop does work. That's +1 star from me.

Sometimes things just work...
...and this is one of those times.I like to carry a "proper" notebook with me, rather than one of those new-fangled electronic gadgets. The Leuchtturm1917 mini (A7) notebook is perfect for the purpose. I bought the lavender (more mid-purple) one and it's just lovely (so long as you use a biro or pencil - the pages aren't ink-proof).I team it with my Waterman Hemisphere purple ballpen which is a perfect match to the notebook. But...there's no pen loop on the notepad, and it's nice to keep the pen and pad together.Well, this little adhesive pen loop in the answer. Sadly while Leuchtturm1917 do the pen loops in lots of colours they don't do one in lavender (why not if you do notebooks in that colour?). Rather than go for a near match in blue or purple, I just went for the white. There's a hard plastic square - about 40mm square and 1mm thick with a peel-off backing to reveal the adhesive. The pen loop itself is just elastic. It's a tight fit even for a slim biro like the Waterman.I took a bit of care when deciding where to put the adhesive square - once placed you'll not be able to take it off again.I'm hugely pleased with the notebook / pen loop / Waterman biro combination.

High quality item but poorly considered
This is obviously a premium accessory. It feels and looks great. The adhesive pad is high quality and feels very secure when attached to the notebook. Once in my pen is held very securely. However, there is one crippling issue with this item. The size of the loop. It is simply too small! I use Pigma Microns (not a large pen by any means) and it is a nightmare to get them into the loop. The loop is too tight and catches the pen on the way in. This loop seems to be designed for nothing bigger than a standard biro, let alone the type of pen many Leuchtturm users will want to use!!Premium product let down by real world ergonomics.

Never loose your pen again!
I have bought these to go with my past two Moleskine diaries for 2015 and 2016 and will be purchasing again for 2017. The adhesive is very strong and each time they have lasted for the life of the diary with no problems. The great thing is that I never have to search for a pen in my handbag! I tend to use a uniball signo TSI gell pen with my diary as these are erasable so easy to rub out if plans change. These pens fit fine in the loop. As do most other uniball pens i have tried. I did try with a Sharpie and i go it in fine in the loop after reading the other reviews just to check.

Only suitable for standard pencils and basic ball points. NOT for all advertised uses
Very disappointing despite being well made and with good adhesion via the sticky pad.My complaint is that I think this item is seriously misdescribed: I cannot get anything thicker than a bog standard pencil or bic type ball point into the loop, which is both very tight and made of very resistant elastic. My smallest pen, a modestly sized Pelikan M200 will only fit after a minute or so off wrestling with the notebook and the attached pen loop. The whole point of these things is to be practical and convenient, which these are not. I even began to worry that my pen surface was going to be scratched by the tightness and robustness of the loop!Reasonable value if you want a good quality holder for a pencil or very thin ballpoint. If you want to hold a fountain pen, forget it.
