Happy with my choice!
I did not know what to expect, since I had never seen these in person. My girlfriend and I wanted matching outfits in the grey color. This led to a problem, because unlike the black pants the grey ones do not come in Short or Long sizes, just Regular. It also had the unfortunate effect of limiting inseam choices because of it, so a size 8-10 for a lady would have a 30 inch inseam, and she needs at least 32 since she is tall and thin. I bought this small pair using the woman to man conversion of what her size was ( an 8 ) and added 21. The men's small was a snug but perfect fit. The inseam was 34, but it still worked well with the boots she uses. When the velcro is tightened at the end of the pant leg it is off the ground enough to not need alteration. That is good, because the way they are built with side zippers and velcro closure any length alteration would be about impossible.PLEASE NOTE! There are a few sites selling these with the WRONG inseam lengths listed! To be sure, go to the Joe Rocket web site and use their size chart! Some sites have the inseams all wrong, and some list the grey pants in short, reg, and tall when there is No Such Thing in GREY, only available like that in BLACK. This has been confirmed by Joe Rocket Customer Support. As for comfort, I really love these pants so far and so does my girlfriend. They look fantastic! Armor is comfortable and adjustments to waist are great. I have doubts about the longevity of the plastic zipper on the side of the pant legs, but time will tell. If it does go bad I would certainly be willing to send to a seamstress to add a metal zipper. This is the ONLY reason I did not give 5 stars. For the price paid I expected a metal zipper. My humble opinion.

Good Outer Pants
I bought their jacket about 6 months ago and these pants seem to be made out of the same material. Both are good quality and, based on the jacket, should be plenty cool on hot days as long as you are moving. They are a little heavy so they are not for long walks but are easy to put on and take off even over boots. The leg zippers come up on the side to mid thigh and are covered by a flap secured closed by Velcro. The zipper itself seems of good quality. The front is closed by double snaps and has a zipper for the boys room. The belt is made of nylon? and is adjusted using Velcro as well. The protective padding is fairly thin but should be more than adequate if ever needed. I wear 36 x 32 jeans a little on the baggy side. I ordered XL short and they fit perfectly. There is not a lot of extra room in the waist as I have to tighten the belt just a little. Lengthwise, they come down to about the middle of the heel which makes it perfect while riding. I wore them over jeans for about an hour ride in mid 50 degree weather and they were very comfortable. It is nice to finally have some lower body protection. Made in China.

Ready for the summer riding season
With temps getting into the 90's, I needed an clothing option that did not sacrifice safety on the motorcycle. These definitely fit the bill. The pants have mesh panels across the thighs and two-way zippers that run down the outer leg to increase air flow. They also have two decent sized pockets in front that zipper close and are wide enough to be able to reach in while wearing thin gloves. Lower legs are covered with a more durable material with velcro adjustment at the ankle. Knee pads are CE rated (I pulled them out to look) and there are two placement pockets to allow some variability in body height. Hip and lower back pads are mid-density foam allowing for freedom of movement. Waist band is very adjustable with velcro lined cinch straps. There are loops and a back zipper to integrate the pants to the matching JR Phoenix Jacket. I ordered these a size up so I have the option to use them into the fall by layering. I put them on over a set of jeans with no issues. If that is not for you, order your normal street pants size. The Joe Rocket web site has the actual waist and inseam measurements rather than trying to divine what Medium, XL-Short, etc means.

Exactly What I Needed
I recently started riding again, but at 65, am a bit more concerned about my safety than I was when I was young and dumb. I bought a Joe Rocket Phoenix 5.0 riding jacket that is perfect for our hot summers, and decided to try the pants. The fit over my clothes is perfect, just follow the sizing chart from the Joe Rocket web site. They appear to be well made, and with the mesh venting, make riding comfortable, in the heat, much more comfortable than jeans. They have hip and knee pads, pockets, lots of adjustment straps that velcro in place . . . I'm impressed and the quality for the price. I hope I never have to find out how well they protect if I slide down the pavement, but that is what they are for, so hopefully, they will do the job. I wear them over shorts on really hot days. UPDATE: I've been using these for over a year, now and continue to be happy with them. I discovered that, in 90 degree weather, over a pair of shorts, they are very comfortable, allowing me to stay cool, but still providing protection.

So far so good......but is it safe? any tests?
The product has a good finish, the fit is great, the overall look and quality seems impressive. The knee pads seem decent.HOWEVER, has any safety test been conducted? HOW will this actually hold up in a fall on the tarmac at speed? How will these vented pants/trousers hold up in a slide down the road?"Safety comes first" (before comfort)........so i would appreciate it if the manufacturer, a product reviewer or biker could share any information about how these pants actually hold up in the event of a fall. Thanks

Happy with these
I am digging these -- I live on Brazil's central plateau, where it is hot, sometimes very dry and sometimes very humid. So far, these pants have been quite comfortable in all conditions. I bought the medium and they are a bit tight on the waist if I use other pants (jeans, for example) underneath, but not anywhere else, and the length is perfect for my 6'1", 180lb frame.
