Roman: Vampire's Mate, Book 1

The story is a solid five stars for this genre. It was well written, the characters were likable, and the story was super sweet. If anything, the story is just a bit too formulaic. The progression of the story was fairly predictable and it was a pretty typical fated mates story, but still enjoyable to read. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a relatively low angst, sweet insta-love story because it definitely satisfies the craving!

Roman by Grae Bryan was a fun, unexpectedly sweet, romantic, low-angst story between fated mates - Danny a human ER nurse and Roman, a lonely vampire with a sad past.This debut novel is wonderfully paced with an interesting plot and a set of engaging characters from the main leads to the supporting ones. This is written in dual POV which the writer handled deftly. The voices for each POV felt distinct and the personality of Danny and Roman shone through the writing. It was interesting seeing the events through their eyes and read the motivations and the logic that guide their actions.Danny and Roman are engaging and such utter darlings! Their instant connection was done so nicely it felt natural and made sense in the context of the story. Danny is such a kind-hearted person and sees the good in everyone but isn't in anyway helpless. He has a spine of steel and has lived independently for a while without losing his sweet nature. Roman has seen so much in the long years he has been alive and has grown cynical, lonely and a little bit lost. Meeting Danny had been the best thing that happened to him. Danny made him feel alive and learn to love life a little bit more.Roman and Danny's interactions are so good - from the steamy sex scenes, to the gentle everyday moments and even their tiny disagreements. Roman's possessiveness and obsession and the need to take care of his mate is written pretty well it's so easy to get lost in them. Danny's ability to just love Roman for who he is - so endearing.I also loved the supporting characters. They were fun and very fascinating. One can feel the tension between Gabe (Danny's brother) and Soren. I am definitely looking forward to their story in the next book. Also, Lucien! I loved Lucien a lot. Such a poor, tormented soul. I am just happy that he wasn't completely irredeemable. I do want to see more of him.Overall, this book has been a pleasant surprise and I highly recommend it to people who love some sweet vampire romance involving fated mates wrapped around a well-paced story with an interesting plot.This would be 4.25 stars out of 5 stars.

So, I loved Roman's chapters; his dialogue was smooth and easy to read, and the character was well-developed. But Danny was a miss for me; his scenes were mostly the same throughout the entire book. In my opinion, the author didn't connect as well with Danny as they did with Roman. Halfway through the book, Danny's chapters started to bore me. So, overall, it's a decent book but a very slow burn.

He was cute and often funny.The other characters were decent but not all that interesting to me.Roman is the vampire and falls hard for Danny fast. All well and good. They are cute together.The problem is the story couldn't keep my interest for any length of time. It was slow paced & often boring. The suspense was very subpar. Not exciting or thrilling. Even when it could have been it just never went that way.It was relatively well written. I can see how others would really enjoy this. And the intimate scenes between Roman and Danny were hot and sexy. That's when you really felt their connection to each other.I seriously doubt I will continue with this series. I need lots of action and suspense. This was mostly just pure romance.

4 stars - It was really goodWell this book was wonderfully adorable! I was sucked in right away and could put the book down. I ended up reading this within a few hours because I could get enough of this cinnamon roll nurse and possessive vampire.Danny is a nurse who is overworked and extremely lonely. He puts everyone else’s well being before himself and is an extremely sweet man. I adored him. Danny was such a sweetheart and I loved watching him finally relax with Roman. Roman was an extremely protective vampire but also super sweet. I loved watching him take care of Danny and do everything he can to make him happy.These two have a very fast paced and steamy relationship that I couldn’t get enough of. Also I really liked that Danny accepted vampires so quickly and didn’t judge them as all being monsters. Soren and Lucen were both very interesting characters that I want to know more of, especially Soren since he was so sassy and charming.Overall, this was a great vampire romance and I can’t wait to get to know the other vampires. I can’t believe I’m just finding this series now! I’m obsessed with vampires, werewolves and witches. This story had me hooked from the very first seconds of the audiobook recommendation. Can’t wait to read book two.

This was a great first book in the series. I love how stoic Roman is compared to Danny's open acceptance to the whole paranormal world.

I loved this story! It was sweet, humorous and filled with enough snarky humor to keep me going. I enjoyed the nuanced characters with their own challenges and seeing them come together in the end. Roman and Danny really were perfect for each other!The cast of secondary characters was also great and I can’t wait to dive into their stories!

Sorry, but I truly loved Soren's definition for this couple!I really loved Danny's good heart! He is loyal, understanding, caring and very much human.They were really made for one another.Love it!!!

I’ve been loving my exploration into non-contemporary MM romances lately and this book was a fantastic paranormal read! I thoroughly enjoyed this vampire romance and honestly can’t wait to continue with the series. I can’t believe this was the author’s debut novel, I never would have guessed. I even read the bonus chapter which I don’t usually do unless I really don’t want to be done with the characters and their story!The story gripped me right from the beginning with the story of Roman’s turning and didn’t let go. Roman was a freaking amazing vampire. I loved how sweet and possessive he was of his human Danny and how he wanted Danny to have everything he wanted.Danny was such a fun character! I loved him right from the start. His care and attention for everyone was wonderful and I loved that he finally had someone to take care of him!! I absolutely loved the ending and how we got a bit of action and their epilogue was wonderful! If you are looking for a fun, sexy, paranormal read I highly recommend this book!

Vampire's mate is one of my favorite tropes, this is refreshing, sweet, funny, and a wonderful light reading in this stressful times.

When ancient vampire Roman finds a plucky nurse, Danny, who he finds himself inexplicably drawn to, he has to accept that the legends of fated mates may in fact be true. But his efforts to woo his mate are dogged by a dangerous spectre from his past who follows him.The writing in this book is top notch and builds suspense while retaining humour and a deep sense of emotion that tugs at the heart strings.I found myself eagerly plotting the release date of book 2 into my calendar and have re-read this series a few times since. Genuinely recommended 👌
